A New Park Experience

We recently discovered a new park that is fun and exciting and provides some new experiences. We went with some friends on Monday and then again today by ourselves. There are swings and brand new toys since it was just redone. The only drawback - get there early before the sketchy crowd gets there in the afternoon. It's also right on the lake so we took a walk down to see the ducks too. We've got to enjoy the outdoors before the unbearable heat of summer hits!

Eating Some Mudbugs

We had the missionaries over for dinner. Dallin decided we all needed to try out some boiled crawfish. They looked kind of nasty, but ended up being quite good. It was interesting ripping off the crawfish butt and pulling out the meat and it made for a mess. But it was totally worth it! Another taste of Louisiana for me and it was good!

5 Months

Our sweet baby boy is now 5 months old!

A little about him:

He is a morning person and is happiest first thing in the morning. I try to get as much done as possible then while he's chatting and screaming in his happy voice.

He loves to chew on anything and everything. He's a grabby fellow that will get anything in reach. He will grab your face and give huge wet kisses.

He can roll from tummy to back but is still working on back to tummy. He gets really far on his side but not quite over. He also scoots around on his back.

I weighed him on my own today and he came in at a whopping 16 lbs. that means he has more than doubled his weight since birth.

He has a very loud voice.

He loves his mommy...a lot! He wants to be held constantly and can only tolerate other people for a very limited time. He is a flirt. If mommy is holding him, he will smile and talk to anyone who will listen. He leaves church smelling like all different kinds of perfume because he gets so much loving from the ladies in the ward.

He hasn't been sleeping or napping well since our trip :(

He is enjoying toys more, even if just to chew on. He drools all over all the time.

He is starting to outgrow his 3-6 month clothes. I worried that he wouldn't fit into Jack's old clothes at the right season, but he's growing so quickly, he is fitting just right.

We love our little Ukey!

A Whole Lotta Fresh Air

The weather has been beautiful this weekend and we have been outside the whole time. We've mowed lawns, washed cars, built garage doors, swam in hippo pools, voted (that was actually indoors), gone to the lake, and had dinner in the park. That's a whole lotta fresh air!

Yummy in My Tummy

Luke tried rice cereal for the first time tonight. I was going to wait longer, but he's seemed so hungry lately, hasn't been sleeping as well, and stares so longingly at our food, that I decided to give it a go.

At first he was a little unsure and not much stayed in his mouth. But he slowly caught on. He even tried to get more once he figured out how to swallow it. Then he got full and started spitting it out again.

Jack was really excited for Ukey to try his "special cer-al" and insisted on trying to feed him some. He cheered him on the whole time. Such a supportive brother!

I can't believe how big our baby is getting!

Splash!

We also were lucky enough to go swimming while we were visiting. It was Luke's first time and he loved it. It was very relaxing for him to float down the lazy river. Jack loved throwing things for his cousins to dive down and retrieve. He also remembered some of the skills he learned in swimming lessons, like kicking and paddling arms. But he still wasn't too sure about putting his face in the water.

Swing, Swing

The weather was beautiful in Denver so we went to the park one afternoon. The kids had a blast swinging and playing on the toys. It soon evolved into a game where they were cooks on a ship. We were given many rock "cupcakes" to eat. Dallin and Mandy even had fun playing on the toys.

Afterwards we went to Costa Vida for some delicious dinner. I have missed that place! Then we stopped at The Cheesecake Factory to pick up a few pieces of cheesecake. That was an adventure on a busy Friday night with a bunch of kids. Luckily it was so tasty and we were able to make it out with all of the kids still in tow.

We Heart Cousins

We had such a fun time visiting cousins. Jack loved having people to play with all the time. He loved playing Toy Story Yahtzee, being a cowboy on their rocking horse, jumping on the trampoline and just being all around crazy. He definitely has a soft spot for Cami. He followed her everywhere and wanted to do everything with her. He missed her while she was at school and even woke up from his nap crying for her.
Jack and Briley, on the other hand, were in a Battle of Two Year Old Wills. They were always giving each other the stink eye. Briley would scream if Jack came near her and Jack would accuse her of hitting him, even when she was nowhere near him. It was pretty funny to watch. Eventually those two will get along!

Luke loved meeting family for the first time. He loved it when Aunt Mandy would hold him and would stay happy with her for a long time. He also loved Savannah and when she would play and talk to him. He appreciated Briley's willingness to share her toys.

It was great hanging for us to hang out with John and Mandy and catch up. Our whole family had a wonderful time!

Road Trippin

This last week we had the opportunity to visit Dallin's sister and her family in Denver for a spontaneous road trip - well as spontaneous as you can get with two little ones.

We loaded up the car and left Wednesday afternoon. We drove all day and into the night through Texas. By about 2am we were in New Mexico and exhausted. We stopped at a rest stop to take a nap. And of course both kids woke up, making the rest impossible. So we soldiered on and arrived at the Adams' house at 6am, waking them up. Luckily they were good sports.

On the way back, we decided to not even attempt an all nighter since it was just too hard. We also decided to take a different route to see some different scenery. We left on Sunday afternoon and stayed the night in Salina, Kansas. We drove all day Monday, going through Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, Arkansas, and down through northern Louisiana. We made a full circle over the last 6 days.

The boys were major troopers. Of course there were some breakdowns and tears. But overall I'm amazed at how awesome they did. Luke's favorite toy was an empty water bottle. Jack enjoyed washing the car with the window washer at the gas station. We had a great time together. And of course there'll be more to come on the rest of our awesome trip!

You Can Fish Anywhere!

Jack has recently been into fishing. His daddy gave him part of an old fishing pole and he tries to fish in the bathtub and off the couch. Last night we got lots of rain, leaving us with big puddles. Jack immediately got to work fishing the puddles. He kept saying, "I caught a big one!" I think it's time his daddy took him fishing!

A Little of This, A Little of That

Some of the random fun around the Coffman house this week. Finger painting, brother love, cowboy firemen, and reading on the potty. Does life get any better?

Sunny Days

The weather has been beautiful the last few days - sunny, warm, and not too humid. We've tried to be outside as much as possible, going to the beach, taking walks, and playing in the yard.

And He Just Keeps Getting Bigger

Luke went in for his 4 month wellness check today.

Weight: 14 lbs. 14 oz
Height: 25 inches
Head Circumference: 17 inches

He is the same height his brother was at this age, but weighs nearly a pound more.

The doctor kept raving at how perfect he looks and how proportionate his weight is to his height.
He said we are doing perfect with our little man.

I was a little nervous to find a new pediatrician because I liked our doctor in Provo so much.
But we are big fans of Dr. Wallace now too!

Luke also got his shots and the rotovirus vaccine.  He was not too thrilled about the experience, but once he was able to get back to Mommy, he was fine.

We can't believe how much our little man is growing!

A Little of This, A Little of That

I've been taking a lot of pictures on my phone that don't really fit into their own post. So I'm going to do a weekly post full of random cuteness.

Week 1

We made some banana bread!

The boys playing together.
Jack would build a tower with the blocks and Luke would knock it over.
They both thought it was hilarious!

We went for frozen yogurt.
Check out that black eye!

Jack took an iPhone to the face and suffered a black eye.
He is the ultimate tough guy!

Worn out and decided to take a nap on Mommy's bed!

Happy Birthday, Dr. Seuss!

Today was Dr. Seuss's birthday.

We started out by having green eggs and ham for breakfast.
That is currently Jack's favorite book.
He always asks me, "Why he don't like it?"
Our little Jack-I-Am ate the whole thing.

They had a Dr. Seuss birthday party at the library.
The Cat in the Hat was there. (A man dressed in a cat suit.)
The mayor and other people read books.
Jack made a Cat in the Hat.

They had cookies and juice.
Jack's cookie turned his mouth blue.
They also gave out books to each kid.

There were different coloring activities, which was Jack's favorite.

We had a great day celebrating Dr. Seuss!
