Daddy Daughter Date

The Primary hosted a Daddy Daughter Dance and Kate took things very seriously for her big date.

She got all dolled up and even straightened her hair.

She was so excited for her night on the town.

They had a blast!

She was able to bedazzle a crown

Dance with her daddy

Eat yummy treats and play games.

I better watch out - I've got some serious competition with this cute date!

Butterfly in the Sky

We paid a visit to the Lake Charles Butterfly Release to kick off spring.

We purchased three butterflies in a bag and everyone in the crowd released their butterflies at the same time.

We were able to touch the butterflies

It was amazing to see the butterflies everywhere!

There were also fun activities for the kids to do:

And yummy food and music

We love that spring is here!

Champions!

The Heat have played and practiced hard this season and it paid off!  They are the Moss Bluff Youth Basketball ABA Champions!

It was a hard fought battle to get to the championship (with some teams even head butting and throwing knees to the groin), but the Heat are tough and they made it!

Jack loves basketball and his coaches really put in the time to help these boys learn the game.  They really jelled as a team and it showed.

And now they are all sporting this championship ring!

Ballet Beauties

It's Girl's Night Out! Kate and Mommy got all fancied up for a night on the town!

We had a yummy dinner at Tia Juanita's

Then we headed to the Lake Charles Civic Ballet performance

Our tiny dancer was enraptured with all of the beautiful dancing!

This prima ballerina has dreams of being on the stage one day!

Geaux, Lakers!

Luke had his last game of the basketball season! He had a great coach (who is also his baseball coach too!)

He learned a lot this season and some of the games were pretty intense (with some crazy fouls)!

Way to go, Lakers! What a great season!

Live at the Lakefront

We always love a good outdoor concert and we heard our favorites, The Flamethrowers were playing at Live at the Lakefront.

We had dinner at some yummy food trucks

Everyone in Lake Charles had the same idea.  The place was packed.  But it was a beautiful evening with a gorgeous sunset.

Kate had her face bedazzled.

And boys had fun playing catch with a football they were given.

It was a beautiful evening with great tunes.  We love this time of the year in Lake Charles!

Opening Day

It's Opening Day of baseball!  The boys are excited to start playing again.  Lucas is playing on the Riverdogs in Coach Pitch and Jack is on the Cubs in the Minor Leagues.  Because of the rain, there haven't been many practices.  But they started off strong and we hope they'll continue to improve this season.

And Kate is ready to have her party at the baseball fields.  She knows lots of people and has fun playing with all her friends.

A Flower In Bloom

Spring is here and our azaleas are in full bloom! We had a little photo shoot in front of the flowers.

Then our little flower took it upon herself to take a few hundred selfies of herself.

Dino-Mite Book Fair

This week was the Book Fair at the school.  We have a house full of book worms, so there was a lot of excitement and buzz about it.  Plus it was dinosaur theme! Dinosaurs + Books = a dream come true for Jack.  They had a dino-mite time shopping for books!

A Touch of Spring

For the first time in awhile, it's been warm AND dry, so we got to work in the yard.  We spent the day preparing a butterfly and hummingbird garden.

We also mowed the grass and got the yard into shape.  And we love that everything is in bloom, including our Japanese Magnolia tree and our azalea bush.  Spring is coming!

Throw Me Some, Mister

We made it to a Mardi Gras parade!

It was super cold, so we only went to some of the earlier, smaller parades.

It satisfied our fix and we got lots of beads and candy.

Jack was really good at catching stuff.

There were lots of cool Jeeps and classic cars in the parades we watched.

It was definitely a party!

Jumping Around

School is out and the weather is freezing, so we spent the morning jumping around at Altitude.

I spent most of my time chasing Bea, but the other kids had fun all over the place.  They played a lot of dodge ball and burned a lot of energy!

Baby Baby

We had some Mardi Gras fun serving gumbo to the missionaries.  We had our king cake for the season and Kate got the baby for the second year in a row! Guess she's buying the next king cake!

And Here Comes the State Ranger

Today was the Louisiana State Social Studies Fair!

Jack was ready - he got a new hat and a cool patch to put on his shirt to complete his costume.

It was a nerve wracking day.  He spent an hour and a half in the coliseum for judging. Only participants were allowed inside, so we had to wait anxiously outside for him.

He did well and was excited to find out he was a winner!

He placed fourth in the state in the Geography Division!

As there is no national fair, this is the end of the road for his Yellowstone project.  It's been a fun hike with this project over the last few months!
