Reorganizing the House

Jack has been practicing his walking by pushing chairs around our house.

He pushed one chair with wheels all the way down the hallway.

He loves to push the kitchen chairs every which way.

Apparently he doesn't like the way we've got them arranged.

Before we know it, he's going to be walking on his own.

Uh oh!

Giggle, Giggle, Quack, Quack

Remembering warmer days (it's currently snowing right now, yuck, yuck, yuck, isn't it the last day of April?) Last weekend we took a walk on campus to check out the flowers for graduation. We stopped off at the Botany Pond to feed the ducks. Unfortunately, everyone else in the greater Provo area had already fed the ducks, so they weren't all that hungry.

Jack was confused about what was going on. Why were we throwing all that excellent bread (he loves bread) into the water?
We then headed up to campus and found some ducks cruising around that were much more hungry. Jack was fascinated by them and couldn't kept his little eyes of of them. Now we tease him that he's a ducky when we feed him little pieces of bread. Quack, quack...

Just Like Great-Grandpa

My Grandpa Strong always sat down at the organ or piano after every meal and played a tune. It's been pretty quiet after meals since Grandpa passed away. But we've found someone who is trying to pick up where Grandpa left off.

My dad was in town last week and staying at Grandma Strong's. Jack had a blast playing the organ on his Grandpa's lap.

Even though his face is very serious, he was loving it. He didn't even notice when Mommy left the room, he was having so much fun!

Like Great-Grandpa, Like Great-Grandson

Daddy's Little Helper

Jack loves to see what we're up to and he especially likes to help his daddy do things around the house.
He helped Daddy put together a new cage for the tortoise
.

We got a new coffee table and he helped Daddy put it together.
He read the directions and showed Dad how it was done.

He also helps Daddy check the mail, take out the trash, work on the computer, and anything else that Daddy looks like he needs help with.

What a great little man!

Tulip Festival 2010

On Monday we took advantage of the beautiful weather and went to the Tulip Festival at Thanksgiving Point.

The flowers were beautiful and we got lots of great shots of our little man.

Checking out the fishies in the pond

Excuse my face - the sun was in my eyes and I don't have a sweet hat like Jack to block it out.

Flashback Friday

Graduation is going on at BYU right now.

Can't believe it's already been 6 years!

9 Months!!

It's already that time again - Jack is another month older! It's amazing how quickly it goes and how much he changes from month to month.
Jack is a very busy guy. He can't sit still or cuddle. He's always on the go. Making messes. Closing doors. Pulling himself up on everything. Playing peek-a-boo. Peek-a-boo is his favorite game. He loves to pull blankets, clothes, doors, anything around, in front of his face and then pop out while you say peek-a-boo. He is also getting better at waving and will give you kisses if you ask about half of the time.
Jack knows who Mommy and Daddy are and he definitely knows when Mommy and Daddy are not there, as his grandparents can now attest to. If Mommy isn't there, many tears flow. He loves to crawl after Mommy and Daddy and see what we're up to when we leave the room. He's a great little shadow.
Jack still struggles with sleeping. Night time, nap time, all times. I guess when you're so busy, you just don't have time to sleep.

Jack has recently decided he's very independent about eating. He doesn't like to be fed, he wants to do it himself. He's been eating a lot of steamed veggies and fruit cut up into little bites, while Mommy tries to sneak in some bites of baby food. He still loves his Puffs and Yogurt Melts. And he has a love affair with bread.

It's amazing how quickly time goes. It seems like just yesterday we were at the hospital with him. On that note, congrats to Jack's Aunt Amanda and Uncle John on the birth of their baby girl this morning! Jack's so excited to meet his new cousin!

Days in the Park

While visiting Grandma and Grandpa, we enjoyed BEAUTIFUL weather. We were able to wear our shorts for the first time in months. We loaded up in the stroller and walked to the park lots of times to take advantage of the wonderful weather.
Jack is excited to go down the slide.
I love the look on his face.
He loves steering wheels.
He must get that from his dad.
Having fun with Aunt Cassidy

More driving
He is so excited

The Wedding

The major reason we went to California was for the wedding of my friend Lelah to her boyfriend of many years, Dylan. It was a beautiful wedding atop a hill at her family's ranch in Ojai. The bride and groom seemed very happy.
Lelah and I have been friends since 6th grade. It's so fun that we've kept close throughout the years.
It was also fun to see some friends that I grew up with while there. I've known Chris since 2nd grade and Wallis since 6th! Look at us, we're all grown up!

Where Have We Been???

It's been over two weeks since I've posted - probably a record for me! You've probably been wondering where I've been.

Jack and I hopped on a plane and headed to sunny California for 10 days.

We left poor Dallin at home to study while we enjoyed fun days in the sun at the park.

Jack practiced his piano playing.

And hung out with his aunts.

Because it was nice and warm, he tried out his first Otter Pop.

He was very attached to Mom throughout the trip.

He also loved crawling around Grandma and Grandpa's house, making a mess and finding funy places to crawl behind, like the couch.

Stay tuned as I play catch up this week!

Baby's First Haircut

Jack's hair has been getting long and scraggly and he's going on a trip this week, so tonight he got his first haircut!

BEFORE

AFTER

The hair over the ears and the rat tail are gone now.

He's looking sharp!

Watch out ladies of California!

Easter Dinner

This year for Easter we were originally going to go to a friend's for dinner. But poor little Jack got sick (a double ear infection AND a virus, poor little man!) and we didn't want to spread the germs to the other kids so we opted to stay home and cook our own Easter dinner.

We had Will, Donny, and Andrea over and feasted. I forgot to take a picture until dinner was half eaten, but above is a shot of the spread. I'm very proud of my first attempt at Easter dinner - ham, stuffing, cheesy potatoes, green bean casserole, and rolls. And it all turned out great, at least in my opinion. Andrea brought over a tasty cake and we ate until our tummies hurt.

What a great way to spend an Easter afternoon!

Easter Morning

Last night the Easter bunny came to our house...

He brought Jack many treasures...

Some fun race cars

A new Elmo bowl and eating utensils

He even filled up some Easter eggs with Jack's favorite treat - Puffs!
Jack liked that so much that he waited until Daddy wasn't looking and ate them all at once!
It's so fun to chase race cars around!

Happy Easter!

(Also, Happy 500th Post! This is number 500 for the Coffman Chronicles! Whew!)

Daredevil

My little daredevil now loves tipping over his Bumbo seat and climbing on it rather sitting in it.

He's living on the edge.
