Busy Body

Luke is a busy little guy. He's always into something. Sometimes the cupboards, sometimes dumping out toy boxes or emptying book shelves. And now he loves the Christmas tree. Tonight he ended up with an ornament stuck to his shirt as he busied around the house. And getting a picture can be tough - he is a blur of activity!

Shatter Proof

When Jack was a baby, we invested in shatter proof Christmas ornaments. It has paid dividends since certain people on our house enjoy taking the ornaments off the tree and throwing them. And we even had a visit from the Grinch, who stole the ornaments off the tree and stashed them in his bedroom. Ornaments are our favorite toy these days.

Brothers

Sometimes they get along. Sometimes they fight. Sometimes they match. Sometimes they just look cool in their boots together.

Let's Go To The Movies!

Jack and I went on a date today to his first movie in the theater. We saw Wreck It Ralph. We got popcorn and candy and he munched away. He ate almost half of the large popcorn. He had a hard time sitting in the seat because it kept trying to fold up on him! So he spent a lot of the movie in my lap. It was a cute movie and we both liked it a lot! I can't wait for our next movie date!

While we were gone, Dallin and Luke had bonding time. They went to Walmart, got hay at the farm supply store, and went out for lunch. Luke liked spending time with his daddy!

It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas

Now we are onto Christmas, or Kipsmas, as Jack calls it. When Dallin told Jack that it was time to put up the Christmas tree, his face lit up and he ran to tell me that it was snowing. In his mind, Christmas means snow. Too bad it was 75 degrees outside.

But we still had a great time. We had donuts, popcorn, and sparkling cider. Luke loved the chocolate donuts. We listened to Christmas music. Luke loved dumping all of the ornaments all over. Jack hung them nicely and Luke promptly took them off the tree. This will be an ongoing argument between them for the next month. Dallin even hung his childhood ornament.

We got out the children nativities and Jack kept putting Mary to bed, not baby Jesus.

We are ready for Kipsmas! Bring it on!

Happy Thanksgiving

We had a nice Thanksgiving. We headed out to the park in an attempt to take pictures for our Christmas card. Yeah, taking pictures with two little boys is hard. But we got a few cute shots. We played on the swings for a bit too

Then we headed home and did some cooking. We were lucky enough to be invited to the Trahan's house for dinner. We brought the potatoes, green bean casserole, rolls, and a peanut butter cream pie and they provided the rest. It was a delicious spread and we had a great time. Both boys were much more friendly than they usually act and Jack loved Sister Trahan. Luke bopped around, happy as can be. And Jack was in heaven when Miss Alayna took him on a ride on the four wheeler. It was a great time and we are grateful for friends to take care of us when we are far from family.

We hope you had a great Thanksgiving and are so grateful for all those in our lives!

The Dog House

Over the last few weeks, Dallin and Jack have been working hard to build a dog house for Charlie. Jack has loved working side by side with his daddy and Dallin has been so patient with his strong willed son. It was a great father-son bonding activity. Luke visited often and he and Jack played in the doghouse together. We can't wait to see Charlie enjoy it now!

The First Thanksgiving

For FHE tonight, we learned about the First Thanksgiving and made hats to go along. I'd say we have the cutest little pilgrim and the cutest little Native American

But I Want Thanksgiving!

Jack really wishes it was Thanksgiving already. He gets upset at least once a day because it's not Thanksgiving yet. I'm not sure why since most kids aren't that excited about it.

A few weeks ago we made a thankful tree for FHE. Every day we each add a new leaf with something we are thankful for. Each person had a certain color leaf. We have everything from the gospel to naptime to Scooby Doo band aids listed on our tree.

Today we made turkeys. We traced Jack's hand, drew on faces, and glued on feathers. Jack loved it. Luke watched and ate animal crackers. Then we hung them up, to "make the house beautiful for Thanksgiving!"

The Big Scary Woods

Ever since Halloween, Jack considers most things to be scary. Today we had to take something to Dallin while he was out on a job. While we waited, we were near the "big, scary woods." Jack wanted nothing to do with it. Luke, on the other hand, felt the need to take off straight to the woods. Silly boys!

Baby on the Loose

Luke is always on the move.

He walks about 80% of the time now

And he has some seriously awesome dance moves, Gangham Style, of course

Of Cars and Trucks and Trailers

Zack's Pro Truck and Trailer was having their 10th anniversary event today. They had food and a drawing to win a trailer. While we didn't win anything, we did enjoy seeing the big monster truck that was there. And Dallin was in heaven when Zack let him drive his Shelby. He couldn't stop smiling for an hour afterwards. My boys and their cars!

One Year Stats

Luke went in for his one year checkup. The doctor said he looks great. Healthy, growing and developing right on track. Luke was not happy from the minute we got there though. He hasn't forgotten his dentist experience and the doctor's office was far too similar. But he did weigh in with these stats:

20 lbs 7 oz
29 inches long
18 inch head circumference

Rockin the Boat

We voted first thing this morning. I told Jack we were going to go vote and he thought we were getting a boat. Yes, he was a little disappointed in his voting experience.

Jack went with me into my voting booth and Luke went with Dallin. We are proudly sporting our voting stickers. And our flag is flying. We are hopeful for a positive outcome today!
