The Shortest Basketball Game

Our ward had tickets to the sold out BYU-New Mexico basketball game. We headed up to the Marriott Center and lasted all of 2 minutes into the game. It was just too loud for our little man. Maybe he'll be ready next season...
On the walk home, Jack did enjoy riding on Daddy's shoulders and we enjoyed beautiful weather. The sun was shining and it was in the mid-50's.
We also came across this in front of the stadium. It was just sitting there, so we had to take a pic. What do you think of our football player and cheerleader? Cute, huh?

A Dipper of Cool Water

I try to keep myself hydrated throughout the day by filling up my water bottle. For months, Jack has been fascinated by this. He's always trying to grab at the water and I have found it impossible recently to drink while holding him because he'll grab the straw while I'm drinking and spray us both. Recently I've been letting him chew on the straw. And in the process he discovered how to suck the water up. He won't actually drink any of the water. He ends up with water all over his front. But he's getting the hang of it. And now I have to learn to share my water...

Missing Spring

This is the view from my kitchen window.

Pretty flowers in an attempt to brighten things up.

But how can things be bright when there's snow in the background?

Yes, it's snowing again.

And I am ready for spring...

So ready for spring...

Calling All Mothers

Hey All You Mommies Out There in Blog Land!

I need your help!

I was recently called to be in charge of the Mother's Group at church. This means I'll be planning activities for the mothers and kids to get together and socialize. Most of the mothers in the group have babies, but there are a few with older kids (ie up to 5 years old).

So I need some ideas of activities you would like to do if you were going to a Mother's Group. I especially need help with ideas for the winter months when we can't get outside, but are especially stir crazy and in desperate need of socializing.

Any and all ideas are welcome!

HELP, HELP, HELP!!

Hide Your Valuables

Because Jack is on the prowl...

No more of this crawling backwards business...

Say goodbye to rolling wherever you need to go...

We have a full fledged crawler on our hands...

And nothing will ever be safe again!

Uh Oh! We're In Trouble!

I left Jack SITTING in his bed...

And this is what I found when I returned...

He pulled himself up to stand by his bed.

He's pretty proud of himself too.

Someone is getting too big for their own good!

Happy Valentine's Day!

I'm so grateful for my wonderful husband

and my super adorable baby!

My two awesome Valentines!

PS Did you know you're supposed to eat your Valentines?
Jack clued us into this new practice.
Yummy!

Oh The Memories!!

Watching the Opening Ceremonies of the Olympics makes me flashback to 2002 (how have 8 years passed already?) to the Salt Lake Olympics. Oh, the fun we had! Going to events, concerts, watching the world come to Utah. It's amazing how quickly time has passed. Between the 4 of us in the picture, we now have 6 kids and live in 3 different states.

A Bunch of Sickies

We are a bunch of sickies around here.

Dallin has a nasty cough.

I have a sore throat and headache.

And Jack has a very runny nose.

This picture just doesn't do the amount of snot on his face justice. When I got him up this morning, there was dried snot ALL over his face, cheeks, chin, forehead. Amazing how he was able to smear it.

Oh, and guess what - what little progress we've made on the sleeping thing seems to be out the window since the illness has appeared.

Super Bowl 2010

Jack hosted his first annual Super Bowl party.

He wore his best football outfit.

He invited his favorite football fan.
He went grocery shopping and bought yummy treats for his guests.

He served ribs, corn dogs, chips, dip, and sodas.

He dined on some tasty carrots.

He took a rest mid game.

And he cheered for the Saints!

Go, Saints! Who dat?

We Really Do Love Each Other

I just wanted to clear it up - despite my recent posts about Jack and I having some disagreements, we really do get along most of the time.

See how much we love being together?

And doesn't my little man looking handsome in his church clothes?

A Battle of Wills

And the score is...

Mommy -4
Baby - 5

Jack and I currently in a battle of wills over this blasted sleeping business. The doctor said I need to just let him cry it out. Many tears have been shed on both ends here.

Night 1 - Woke up at 10:30, cried for 30 minutes, slept for 30 minutes, cried for 15 more minutes, slept for an hour and a half, ate, then slept until 6am

Day 1, Nap 1 - slept for 10 minutes, cried for 20 minutes, got him up
Day 1, Nap 2 - slept for 2 minutes, cried for an hour and ten minutes, got him up

Night 2 - Slept until 1am, ate, woke up at 3, cried for 30 minutes, slept until 6am

Day 2, Nap 1 - slept for 10 minutes, cried for 50 minutes, slept for 30 minutes
Day 2, Nap 2 - slept for 20 minutes, cried for an hour and 15 minutes, got him up

Night 3 - woke up at 8, cried for less than 10 minutes, woke up at 10:15, cried for less than 5 minutes, slept until 3am, ate, slept until 6:30am

Day 3, Nap 1 - slept an hour and 20 minutes
Day 3, Nap 2 - slept for 30 minutes, cried for 30 minutes, got him up

Night 4 - Woke up at 10:15, cried for less than 5 minutes, slept until 3am, ate, woke up at 6:30am

And now here we are at naptime again, he slept for 10 minutes and has now been crying for 20 minutes. Is it too much to ask for the child to nap? He just won't give up during the day. Any advice? Should I just give up on the nap thing and hold him? I have this knot in my neck that gets tighter and tighter the more he cries and, believe me, I've shed many tears too, through this process. I just don't understand how he can cry this much and not fall back to sleep. Apparently I have a strong willed child

While Daddy's Away

At our house, Daddy usually gets up with Jack in the mornings.

One morning, while Daddy was in the other room, he heard lots and lots of giggling. Wondering what trouble Jack was into, this is what he found...

Our funny little man thought it was hilarious to kick his swing and watch it move.

I'm glad he can entertain himself from time to time.

Mom, You're Ruining My Life

This picture doesn't even come close to conveying the anger Jack has been feeling

Jack has been very angry the last few days.

And the brunt of his anger has been directed at his mommy.

I now know what it's going to feel like to have teenagers.

Ever since he got his shots, he's been in a bad mood. But the bad mood is only at Mommy.

Monday afternoon, he whined and whined and whined. Then Uncle Will showed up and he was all smiles. Uncle Will left and the whining resumed. Daddy came home from work. The whining stopped again. Then nighttime hit. It was a loooooooooong night.

Tuesday was full of more whining.

Then Tuesday night Mommy made Jack's life even more terrible. When he decided he was going to wake up every hour, Mommy just let him cry in his bed. He cried for 30 minutes, slept for 30 minutes, cried for 15 more minutes, then slept for an hour and a half. He ate, then slept for almost 4 more hours. Maybe we're making progress.

But guess who's still mad at their Mommy today...

Jack Week, The Finale

I know you've been waiting all week for this - the grand finale of Jack Week!

Well, we into the doctor for his 6 month wellness check today.

And his stats are...

Weight: 15lbs. 14oz (the 15th Percentile)
Height: 26.75 inches (the 56th Percentile)
Head Circumference: 17.5 inches (the 65th Percentile)

The doctor said he looked healthy and happy and was doing well.

The poor kid was VERY sad about his shots this time. He had all the regular 6 month shots, plus both flu shots. There were a lot of tears shed.
