A New Library

We checked out the library in Moss Bluff today. While it's not as big as the Central Library, we still had a good time, picking out books, putting together puzzles, and playing on the computer.

This guy LOVED playing the toddler game and listening to music. He was VERY upset when it was time to go and the whole library heard it!

We are excited to make memories at our new library!

The End of a Wonderful Weekend

We wrapped up a great weekend by celebrating Memorial Day in style. 

We hung our flag and patriotic wreath. 

We wore patriotic clothes and got ready for a day at the pool by wearing Mommy's hat. 

Our great friends invited us to swim!

Jack is really into practicing swimming. 

He tried to get up the nerve to jump off the diving board. He did it last time we were there, but wasn't up to it today. 

But this little man went off twice with his daddy. We thought the first time would be the last once he realized he'd go under water, but he begged to do it again a second time. Silly kid!

After naps for all of us, we munched on some watermelon. 

The boys played outside and blew bubbles. 

Then they begged to swim some more. I thought three hours would be enough! But my little fishes can't get stay out of water too long!

This was an awesome weekend! Here's to the beginning of the incredible summer of 2013!

Birthday Love

I had a relaxing birthday weekend. I enjoyed phone calls, texts, and Facebook messages from many kind friends. 

We went out for Mexican food (it was the most authentic I've found in Louisiana!) and had frozen yogurt. 

We also made a trip to Target where I was able to swimsuit shop without little people underfoot. While I found a new swimsuit, the boys looked at toys. Jack had a dollar sent to him by Aunt Shari, so he picked out a new race car. He paid all by himself and slept with the car clutched in his hands. 

The next day we got ready for some fun. Luke wore his sweet Hawaiian shirt. 

We killed some time by eating popcorn and watching a show together. 

We picked up some new pool toys. 

And we found out the boys look awesome in goggles. 

A few friends came over to swim and grill. 

Dallin made amazing hamburgers. They had melted cheese inside. They were huge and delicious! We had yummy sides and Jen made delicious desserts!

The kids had a blast in the pool. 

We set up the little pool for the little guys. 

  

Aren't best friends fun? These three stayed in the pool for about three hours straight. The were pruney and purple when they got out. 

And these little fellas made messes and played around together. 

It was a great weekend and I'm grateful for all the wonderful love shown to me!

The Little Things

The kids have been kind of crabby lately, so we are trying to find little things to make them happy. 

We play racing. Constantly. Different cars. Different rooms. Different styles of races. It keeps us busy. 

I also picked up a dollar bubble wand. If I was really smart, I would have bought two. But we spent the afternoon blowing bubbles. 

Then Jack decided he wanted to dig. But there is no good spot to dig in the backyard. So to appease him we dug in some ruts by the side of the house that are on our list to fix.  

Watch out, Luke!

On a side note, I was excited to recently discover these flowers growing on the side of the house. Agapanthus remind me of home since my mom has them growing in the yard. And who doesn't love a lily (Nana, Baby Lily, or the flower)?

Working Hard

Saturdays have become busy days for us since we bought our house. We work hard on our house and yard. This weekend we did lots of yard work and put the pool up. Luke ran around the yard, getting wet and collecting things. He eventually just ended up in just a shirt and diaper since he was a mess. We also finished up painting and are SO CLOSE to unpacking our last box. It feels good to get things done!

Season Ender

Jack played in his final baseball game of the season. It was a fun night because Daddy filled in as head coach and he played against his best friend, Austin. A good way to end the season

This season we discovered he loves hitting, but isn't so into fielding the ball. He did enjoy playing first base though. 

We are glad he had a fun first experience with baseball! Here's to Jack's freshman season!

18 Month Stats

Luke went for his 18 month well check. 

He is 24.2 lbs - the 25th percentile for weight 

He is 31 1/2 inches tall - the 22nd percentile for height. 

His head circumference is 19.25 inches - the 78th percentile. 

Poor boy is sick again with a cold and has a lot of junk in his chest, so he is on another round of antibiotics. He's had a rough year. He got two immunization shots too, so he was pretty sad. 

But the doctor says he looks great otherwise, and just try to keep that busy little body out of trouble. Wish me luck with that!

Mother's Day Extravaganza

I had a wonderful Mother's Day weekend. 

I had a sick baby, so I got lots of cuddles. 

The boys surprised me with a new tv for my bedroom. 

My boys were looking extra handsome with new haircuts. 

Sunday morning they made a yummy breakfast of waffles, eggs, and sausage. 

At church, I had a very handsome fellow sing to me with the Primary. Jack looked very cute on the stand singing. 

After church, my sick boy and I took d nap together. 

Then we took a family walk through our new neighborhood. 

And played together. 

And serenaded each other on the piano. 

Then it was time for Dallin's traditional feast. 

This year was Lemon Chicken Picatta, Roasted Herbed Potatoes, Glazed Carrots, and Texas Toast. 

And a yummy strawberry dessert - strawberries, whipped cream, cream cheese with a pretzel crust. Delicious!

It was a great day and I felt very loved!

Some Thoughts on Mother's Day

Mother's Day is here again and I've had lots of things going through my head. 

I am grateful to be a mother, especially to these little stinkers. Some days I feel completely inadequate and totally overwhelmed. Okay, most days I feel like that. I've recently started saving quotes to help remind me that I'm doing ok 

I know I am not a perfect mother and don't always do the right thing, but I do love my boys with all of my heart and try my best each day to make life good for them. 

I am also grateful for the women who have shaped me. 

My own mother:

She has always loved her children so much and always let us know how proud of us she is. She works hard to take care of everyone and always puts her needs behind everyone else's. She is a great woman. 

My mother- in- law:

She raised a great man when she raised Dallin. Some days I don't feel like I quite measure up to the example she has set. She laughs even when things are hard. She takes mothering seriously and always seems to have the answer. I wish she lived closer so she could give me her tips more often!
