Colors of the Rainbow

We dyed Easter eggs. In our underwear. Because we are that cool. Jack was the boss. Luke was very into it. He'd put anything he could find into the cups. We are loving our colorful eggs.

Down By the Banks

It was great having Dallin home for Good Friday.

So we headed to Sam Houston State Park for some fun.

The boys had fun fishing.

He was hoping to catch something, but no luck today.
But check out that happy face!

Luke spent most of the time gathering pine cones and sticks and throwing them into the river.

Busy little guys!

We also brought Charlie with us to enjoy the fun.

We grilled hot dogs and had a fun little picnic.
We were lucky to get a table with a BBQ right by the river.
It was so nice and peaceful.

Luke never stopped wandering and exploring.

Once they finished eating, they got good and dirty playing in the dirt.

We took home two tired, dirty, happy little men!
It was a great afternoon!

Sweet Boys

This morning I went to the park with two sweet little boys.

They did a lot of exploring.

The little one likes to do what the big one does.

They have fun together.

They are cute together.

I said to them, "How did I get the cutest boys in the world?"
Jack's response, "How did I get the cutest family in the world?"

Then this afternoon these sweet little boys wandered around the yard picking flowers for me.
They were only the prettiest flowers, straight from the grass.
Jack wanted us to make a boutique (some of you may call it a bouquet; we call it a boutique.)

I love my little sweet guys!

Tidbits

There really hasn't been much excitement around here. Just the tidbits...

Jack seems to be growing through a growth spurt. Eating a ton, very tired, and kind of grumpy.

That grumpiness has led to the warm fuzzy jar coming to our house. We earn warm fuzzies when we are kind. There will be a prize when we fill the jar. Today has been a much happier day in our house when we are kind.

Luke is really into watching videos of his younger cousins. Baby Lily texted us a video and he loves watching "babe babe". Then we watched baby Gideon for awhile on his blog. There were lots of giggles. Baby Paris sent us some videos too. He squealed watching "paw paw." He wishes he could play with his cute cousins.

We are also into baseball. We practice. We are awesome.

Misty Days

Today was kind of gloomy. Dallin hurried and did the yard work in the morning. Luke helped by bringing him water and Jack helped give Charlie a bath

Then we decided to do something fun despite the wet weather. We picked up The Chipmunks: Chipwrecked at the library, bought some treats and popped popcorn. We had a nice afternoon watching the movie together as a family.

We know how to brighten a gloomy day!

Pen Pals

Jack loves mail. Every day he asks if there is any for him. If there's not, I'll give him the junk mail and he will pretend it's a letter. He usually pretends he's getting mail from Cousin Eli or Baby Lily. It's funny since he hasn't seen Eli in a year and a half and he's never met Baby Lily. I guess that's why it's important that they send him letters. According to Jack, Luke gets letters from his friend Baby Warren. And when Luke colors, he is writing to Baby Lily. We like to keep in touch!

Surprise Adventure, Part 3 - Houston Museum of Natural Science

Our final stop on Surprise Adventure weekend

The Houston Museum of Natural Science

Otherwise known as the Dinosaur Museum.

They were amazed at all the fossils.

Luke wanted to be a big boy and walk around the museum by himself.

Until his dad tried to feed him to the crazy fossils

Don't worry - Dallin was punished for trying to feed his baby to the monsters.

Jack loved seeing the dinosaurs, but was a little nervous about them.
He had to be reassured multiple times that they were not real.
Then he repeatedly told us, "The dinosaurs used to be real.  They aren't real anymore.  Now they are made out of fossils." He has told anyone who will listen since about the fossils - Grammy, Aunt Sass, even the librarians have heard about it.

He also likes to tell everyone about this shark mouth.
There is a picture next to it showing the shark eating an elephant.
That is one massive shark!

I was most impressed by this monster - the giant sloth!

After we finished with the dinosaurs, the wildlife exhibit, and the gem exhibit, we went to the butterfly exhibit.

It was amazing!

It was in an amazing atrium, full of butterflies!

There was also an encased beehive that impressed Jack.

One of the MANY beautiful butterflies we saw!

Luke was good at pointing out the butterflies to us.

There was even a waterfall inside.

There were a lot of fun games inside that the boys enjoyed playing too.

Once we got some lunch, we hit the road and headed back to Louisiana.

We stretched our legs at the border.

And took a walk on the boardwalk.

I'd say this was a very successful Surprise Adventure weekend!
