C is for Caterpillar

We have started just doing preschool one day a week and alternating weeks. This was our week to teach and we worked on the letter C! We read The Very Hungry Caterpillar and did lots of caterpillar activities.

We painted egg cartons, glued on pipe cleaner for ears and colored on eyes to make a caterpillar.

We also cut out numbers to build a caterpillar.

We played caterpillar hopscotch and learned about its life cycle.

We also read If You Give A Cat A Cupcake and are cupcakes, carrots and crackers for our snack!

Pretty Girl

Kate did some shopping. She loves to carry around any bag she can find, so she picked out a purse. Then she cruised around Target with it.

She also picked out some sparkly running shoes and is so proud of them.

She has not taken them off all day!

Goodbye to Grandpa

Dallin's Grandpa Munro passed away recently. Dallin was able to join his parents and uncle, aunt, and cousin for the burial in Fillmore, California.

Grandpa has a beautiful plot with a gorgeous view. Dallin dedicated the grave

It was nice that Dallin was able to get the time off of work to be there. We wish we all could have joined him.

God be with you till we meet again, Grandpa!

A is for Alligator

This week at preschool we did A is for alligator. We read and sang Five Little Monkeys Swinging From A Tree and Open Very Carefully, about an alligator trapped in a book. We also made alligators out of A

Ate apples and animal crackers. Played a form of hopscotch where we hopped on the lily pads to avoid the alligators.

And counted fish to feed our clothespin alligators.

We also practiced writing the letter A and making the sound

For our field trip this week, we decorated plates to give to our grandparents for Grandparents Day

They drew a picture and then we baked them in the oven to keep the picture on

Laboring on the Lease

Usually the boys just go with Dallin to the hunting lease. Luke told Kate and I that there is a sign that says "No Girls Allowed." After much discussion, we finally convinced him to take down the sign and let us come.

Dallin and Kate rode on the four wheeler while the boys and I rode on the trailer behind it.

We helped Dallin put up a stand

And checked on his different spots.

And of course spent some time getting dirty.

It was a nice day enjoying nature!

Gator Babies

We kicked off our preschool field trips with a trip to see the baby alligators in Jennings.

The kids loved looking at them outside.

And hanging out with their friends

When we went inside, the boys wouldn't go near the gators. Kate looked at it but had no interest in touching it.

I was the only one that would hold it!

This is as close as the kids would get.

Afterwards we took a walk around the pond

And played at the playground as long as we could stand the humidity.

Then we had a good old Louisiana lunch at Popeyes. Kate loves her some corn!

Girly Girl

Kate loves to do girly things. Today we bought her new church shoes. She carried them through the whole store and insisted on wearing them as soon as we got home.

Her hair is also growing long. It's very curly, but post bath you can see how much there is.

She's such a pretty lady!

First Day of Preschool

Luke started preschool today! We are doing a preschool co-op like we did with Jack. The first day was at our house.

We are doing with our friends Izzy and Gavin.

We learned about the calendar and read some stories.

We built our names with Legos.

We practiced cutting with Play Dough.

They Q-tip painted the first letter of their name.

And colored and did name puzzles.

Then we tried writing in corn meal.

It was a fun way to kick off our first day!
