Thanksgiving in Dallas

Since we were going to be all alone on Thanksgiving, our Dallas cousins took us in and we had a great time spending the holiday with them.

We had tons of delicious food.

And with that many kids, you few drinks

The kids had fun playing together and building their friendships.

We also enjoyed lots of naps by the fire on the cold, wet weekend.

So grateful for our cousins moving closer so we can hopefully see them more often!

Take the Next Right Step

Everyone was bumming that Daddy headed out for his first shift working in North Dakota, so we consoled ourselves by going to the movies to see Frozen 2.  It was great, although some parents made Kate feel scared.

Then we headed to the skateboard park so our skater dude can practice his moves.

We all took turns and there were a few spills, but thankfully no injuries.

We survived our first day without Daddy!

Deck the Halls

Usually we wait to decorate for Christmas until after Thanksgiving, but with Dallin having to start his new job that week, we set up shop early.  We had fun dancing to Christmas tunes, hanging the indoor and outdoor lights, and letting Christmas overtake our house!

Kindergarten On the Loose

Kate finally got to go on her very first field trip! After a rain out in October, they were so excited to get these kindergarteners out on the town.  And her daddy got to come along too, so it was even better!

They went to Millennium Park for some great play time!

They learned about safety from the firemen

And from the policeman and his police dog.

It was a fun day out!  On the way home, we could stuck in a major traffic jam when a trash truck crashed on the bridge.  Luckily we like each other, because the three of us sat in the car for an hour and a half waiting to get past!

Handsome Haircuts

We have a new barber shop in town, so the boys tried it out to spruce up.

Jack got the full treatment, head wrap and hair wash and all.

Both boys are looking sharp!

Fifth Grade on the Farm

Fifth grade hit the Grant Christmas Tree Farm for a fun field trip!

It was a very chilly day, so we had to bundle up!

There were fun activities and hay rides

And they learned about various aspects of life on the farm! It was a fun day with my big boy!

New Horizons

While Dallin was working in the Bahamas, he made a great impression on their clients.  So great, in fact, that they offered him a job!  He will now be working as a Field Safety Rep where he'll be working two weeks in North Dakota, then be off completely for the next two weeks.  We are excited for this new opportunity to grow.  And so proud of all of his hard work.

For the Beauty

We are grateful to have a beautiful state park just moments away from our home.

We were blessed to spend this beautiful Veteran's Day at Sam Houston Jones State Park.

Fall is the best time of year here - so gorgeous!

We had fun hiking and taking it all in!

For the beauty of the earth...

We ❤️ Veterans

Our school is always so good about celebrating our veterans.  This year they had an awesome display with a Wall of Veterans.

And we spotted a veteran near and dear to our hearts - Pop Pop!

Happy Veteran's Day!

Back to Work

It's a big day - I've gone back to work.  Today was my first day as a substitute teacher at the kids' school.  I'm excited to be back in the classroom!

Million Word Man

He's at it again! Jack has already made it into the Million Word Club (for the third year in a row) and we are only a quarter of the way into the year!

Baptism Day

It’s Great To Be Eight

Lucas made the big decision to be baptized today.  It was a very spiritual and emotional experience for him and we are so proud of him for making this choice.

He was baptized by his dad and his grandfathers both spoke and were witnesses.

We loved seeing all of the family and friends that traveled from near and far to be there for this special day.

Afterwards we went to lunch at Walk-On's and Lucas received his own set of scriptures.

And a fun surprise - LSU's Coach O was there doing an interview.  He was cheering Lucas on too!
