Strike!

Jack has been into Wii bowling lately so we decided to take him down to the old Petro Bowl to try out the real thing.

We used bumpers and the dinosaur ramp. Jack pretty much rocked and beat me by a lot the first game. I came back and won the second game, besting Dallin by one point.

Jack was fascinated by the thing that the ball comes back to you in. He loved waiting for his ball.

Afterwards we went to Texas Roadhouse for dinner and were reminded why we don't go out to eat. Five trips to the bathroom between the two kids was fun. Hey at least Jack was willing to go while we were out. And the food was delicious, of course

Happy Half Birthday!

Mr. Luke is now 6 months old. Where in the world did the last 6 months go?

Luke has grown a lot. The picture in the yellow striped is just from a month ago and the blue shirt is from today. He seems so much longer!

He has started on solids although he doesn't really love them. He makes a sour face every bite and sometimes he won't even open his mouth. He's tried carrots, peas, apples and peaches. Peaches have been the most popular.

He adores bath time and kicks his feet excitedly when he sees me get his tub out. He gets equally excited when he sees me getting lotion on my hands to give him a massage.

He thinks his brother is hilarious...most of the time. He'll crack up at him. But other times he just seems annoyed.

His favorite way to be - sitting up. He has no interest in crawling because he still hates being on his stomach.

He loves his mommy. He wants to be wherever I am. We are attached at the hip - literally.

He is still chewing on everything and is a big drool face. Perhaps more teeth on the horizon?

We have a doctor's appointment on Tuesday where he will get weighed, get shots, and have his tongue clipped. Big day.

We love our little Ukey!

Potty Time

If you know Jack, you know he has a strong personality and will only do things on his terms. That's why I haven't pushed potty training too hard. I knew he'd fight me until he was ready. He's had the potty and the underwear for awhile.

This week he decided it was time.

Sunday there were 4 accidents and 2 successes.

Monday 2 accidents, 3 successes.

Tuesday 1 accident and lots of success.

And today there were no accidents.

He still wears a diaper at bedtime and when we go out. But when we were at the park today, he was insistent that we go home because he needed to go potty.

He loves flushing the toilet and getting a sticker each time.

I'm so proud of my little guy and hope he keeps it up.

And I love his little bum on underwear!

Meanwhile...

While Jack is busy at the gas station, Luke practices his sitting on the grass. He's gotten quite good at sitting on his own and had a record of sitting for 3 minutes with no help. He was fascinated by the grass the whole time.

Gassing Up

Jack has a great time playing with his car outside. Currently his favorite game is gas station.

He will report to me first. "Me going to the gas station. Me get 4 gallons, wash my windows, and get Mommy a drink!" Sometimes he gets himself a Bug Juice too.

I love how his vocabulary has expanded - 4 GALLONS? Where did he learn about gallons? He's such a cute kid!

Bang, Bang

Dallin got a new gun recently and hasn't had a chance to shoot it, so we went shooting as a family.

The boys looked cute wearing ear plugs.

It was kind of chilly, something that hasn't happened in awhile, so they even had to wear their sweaters.

Dallin has a blast shooting his new AR-15. Jack shot about 200 rounds on the 22 with the help of his daddy. He really loved loading the gun. I even shot a few rounds. Luke sat around looking cute. He's good at that.

It was a great day!

And in the pictures below, they loaded in a weird order, making it look like Dallin was using Jack as target practice. That is, in fact, not the case!

We Can't Stop Splashing

Yes, we went to the splash park again.

The weather is gorgeous and we just can't get enough.

And Mr. Luke is now facing forward in his stroller and loving life even more. He squealed with delight watching his big brother play in the water.

And beware, I'm sure this will not be my last splash park post!

Breaking Through

The last week hasn't been fun around here.

Someone won't sleep.

Someone cries a lot.

Someone wants to be held all the time.

Someone is teething.

If you look closely at the picture, you can see two little bottom teeth.

We've tried all sorts of teething remedies and I'm just praying the worst of it has passed.

I miss his big smile and am ready to check out a toothy grin!

Where A Kid Can Be A Kid

It's been rainy today and Luke had been a fussy, teething fellow, so we didn't do much. Jack was a good sport about it, so for Family Home Evening, we went to Chuck E Cheese.

Jack rode rides, played games, ate pizza, won 270 tickets, and scored himself a rocket ship and some other nifty toys.

4.15.2012

Oh the Irony!

Last Sunday I couldn't get Jack to smile to save his life. Today he's all smiles. Too bad it's super windy and Dallin is gone, or I'd try to recreate Easter pictures.

Friday Evening Fun

After Dallin got home from work on Friday, we set out on an adventure.

We spotted our first gator!

We flew a kite at the beach!

We built sandcastles!

We played in the waves!

We walked around the nature trail in search of an alligator - instead we encountered a wild hog, a rabbit, an eight billion mosquitoes!

We ate pizza!

We had the best Friday evening ever!

From the Mouth of Babes

Jack has been quite the talker lately. In fact, he never stops talking. Here are some recent gems:

J: Where's Daddy?
Mommy: He went to work.
J: Does Mommy go to work?
M: My work is taking care of you and Luke.
J: Mommy work is getting me fruit snacks.

"When I get REALLY big, me be an astronaut. Me fly a rocket ship. Me put my rocket ship outside. It's too big. Mommy and Daddy say, '3, 2, 1, blast off!'"

All day long, he constantly asks, "What are you doing with my brother?"

"Mommy feeds Luke with her tummy."

While in the tub he discovered "Me have a hole in my bum."
We talked about why he has a hole in his bum.
The next morning, first thing he tells me, "Me have a hole in my bum to get out toots and poop. Luke has a hole in his bum too."
We only discuss the important things in the morning!

Jack was in bed one night and called for Daddy. The room stunk when Dallin got back there.
D: Jack did you poop?
Jack: Yes, I have poop on my fingers
D: Why do you have poop on your fingers?
Jack: I pooped
D: Yeah so how did it get on your fingers?
Jack: Me put my hand on my bum
D: Why did you do that?
Jack: Me FUNNY!

Bath Time Excitement

Someone can pull themselves into a sitting position in the tub.

Bath time just became a whole lot more exciting...

4.11.2012

The Tongue

Luke's little tongue is always out. He loves to stick it out. He sticks it out when he gives a big grin. He sticks it out to try to lick everything he can get his hands. He sticks it out when he's just curious.

Poor boy has to have a procedure done on his tongue at his 6 month check up. The little thingy (I can't remember what it's called) that is under the tongue that connects it to the bottom of the mouth is too far forward. So they have to give it a snip. The procedure is supposed to be pretty quick and not too painful. (I had it as a baby also). I hope it doesn't mess with his cute tonguey grin.

In other news, a tooth is so close to breaking through and Luke has tried carrots.

Splashing Around

We've been going to the park a lot lately. It keeps Jack busy and gives Luke a break from Jack's constant attention.

Today we went to Prien Lake Park and discovered that they had turned the water on in the splash pad. We had no idea they had already started, so we weren't prepared. Instead we decided to be ghetto and Jack played around on his clothes.

He had a blast and kept telling me that he was getting clean. Luke enjoyed watching but I know once he learns to crawl, he'll be right in there too.

Next time we will bring our swimsuits for sure!

Our Easter Best

I got the boys matching Easter outfits and was really excited to get some good shots of the two of them before church.
Luke was agreeable to the idea.
As previously mentioned, Jack was not exactly at his best.
He wasn't in the mood to smile, eventually couldn't even sit up, then took off.
So here's our attempt at an Easter photo shoot:
