Our Big Trip

Last weekend was another milestone for Mr. Jack - he took his first trip! After packing up everything a baby could ever need for his first vacation, we headed out to California. Jack was a superstar on the trip there. He slept and, when he wasn't sleeping, he was busy enjoying his beautiful self in his lion mirror. He just stared at himself for hours.

We were lucky enough to stay with Grandma, Grandpa, Uncle Will, and Aunt Sassy. Our first morning there, we met up with Jack's great-grandma and great-aunt Shari for breakfast. (Unfortunately Mommy was a terrible photographer and forget to get out her camera half the time. There will be more pictures to come from Aunt Kathleen later)

That afternoon, we met up with Nana and PopPop, who flew in from Texas to be there for Jack's blessing. We ate lots of yummy Mexican food and doted on the King of the Babies.

Saturday Jack was overloaded with women. He went to cousin Elizabeth's baby shower and then to the Relief Society General Broadcast. He was jealous of the men who got to stay home and watch football. Fortunately, his cousin Wylde showed up at the baby shower with his newly broken elbow and they were able to have some male bonding time.

Sunday was the big day, the major reason for our journey - the big blessing! Dallin did an awesome job and it was a very special experience. We had lots of family there, including all of his Strong and Christensen relatives and Nana and PopPop and great-uncle Joseph and cousin Terrin.

Unfortunately Nana and PopPop had to leave after church, but the rest of the gang gathered for a yummy dinner and Jack had a photo shoot with his Aunt Kathleen (pictures to come later).

Monday Jack was sad to say goodbye to his family and head home. Hence, he whined and cried most of the drive back. It's just too hard to say goodbye.

He recouped yesterday by lounging around his house in his onesie. What a weekend!

Two Month Stats

Length - 23 inches - 58th percentile
Weight - 11lbs. 8oz - 44th percentile
Head Circumferencen- 16 inches - 74th percentile
The doctor says he is a perfect baby and is growing very well!
Here's a similar shot from when he was just a month:
Can you see the difference?

Also the poor guy got his shots today.
He didn't cry much initially, but once he woke up from his nap this afternoon, he's been very fussy.
Any tips on easing the pain?

Lounging

This little stinker kept Mommy up most of the night.
He must have sensed that he was going to have something bad happen today.
But he did manage to sneak in a little sleep while Mommy got ready this morning.
Doesn't he look so comfy?
He made tired Mommy very jealous!

Sidewalks

Dear Provo,

As a resident and new mother who doesn't get out much, I enjoy taking walks with my baby through your streets. We load up the stroller and head out for morning or evening strolls. It helps him see the world and me work off that baby weight. We greatly enjoy our time out.

Except for one little problem.

Your sidewalks.

They are the bumpiest sidewalks I've ever encountered. My poor baby gets bumped and jostled and if he wants to nap, he is promptly bumped awake. I've considered risking our lives by walking in the road where it is actually smooth, but it's just not safe. Other times, I've driven to places with smooth sidewalks. But doesn't that just defeat the purpose of walking to drive there?

So, for the sake of a new mom and her baby, can we find some smooth paths to walk upon with having to drive to get there?

Sincerely,

Mommy and Baby

Irresistible

Who can resist a face like that??

Playing Hooky

Fall is in the air.
Leaves are starting to change.
There is a hint of coolness in the air.
Football is in full swing.
And school has started.
With the start of fall, school has always begun for me.
Back in 1985 I headed off for my first day of preschool and have never looked back since.
Preschool.
Elementary school.
Junior high
High school
College
Then those years back at elementary school.
And now suddenly, fall has arrived and for the first time in 24 years,
I AM NOT AT SCHOOL
I feel like the principal's going to call my mommy and tell her I am playing hooky.
But instead, this year, I'm the mommy.
And I don't have to go to school.
And I don't mind...

Daddy's Little Hunter

I heard Daddy was going hunting today.
So I put on my camo onesie (can you find me in the picture?)
And I sat myself on his bow case, so he wouldn't forget me.
But then I got very tired and took a nap.
And, can you believe it, my daddy went hunting without me!
Maybe I'll get to go next year...

Visits With Cousins

Jack had a very busy weekend, filled with COUSINS!
First, cousin Shelby was passing by on her way to Rexburg and visited. Jack loved being held by her and was so relaxed that he fell asleep in her arms.

Then Aunt Mandy, Uncle John, Savannah, and Cami came to stay for the weekend. Savannah and Cami made sure that Jack was entertained whenever he was awake. They loved trying to make him play with all of his toys. They were just disappointed that he wasn't awake as much as they would have liked.

Jack also watched his first BYU football game and we think he may be their lucky charm, since they beat Oklahoma.
Go, Cougars!

Jack's New Trick

Jack will do anything to get out of tummy time!

He now does this every time I put him on his stomach - little trickster!

Look At Me!

Tummy Time was a success today!
Jack kept his head up for over a minute!
Big, strong baby!

Talk To Me

Jack has turned into a little talker.

He's usually more animated and louder.

I'll work on getting another video, but hopefully this will do for now.

Older and Wiser

Remember 6 weeks ago, when I was just newly born and I looked like this...

Back then all I seemed to do was eat, poop, and sleep.

Now look at me...
I'm so big. Now I eat, poop, and sleep. But I also smile, grab, coo, watch, play, and even giggle.
Can you believe what big stuff I am?
My mom is so impressed with me that she just kept taking my picture today. Don't I look cute?
