10 Months!

Yesterday Luke hit the 10 month mark. Double digits, baby! He is growing and changing constantly.

Here's a day in the life of Ukey, just to get a taste of what he is like:

6:00-6:30 Have a bite to eat in bed with Mommy

6:30 Pull out all the plastic bowls, plates, and cups while Mommy makes breakfast.

6:45 Eat breakfast. His favorite is pancakes.

7:15 Crawl around and play with toys. Pull off all the DVD's. Climb into places that will make big brother mad.

7:45 Get dressed. Cry at Mommy the whole time while big brother yells, " Peek-a-boo" to cheer you up.

8:00 Load up in the stroller. Babble excitedly and scream with delight while watching Brother ride his bike as we walk up and down the street.

8:30 Unload the dishwasher as Mommy puts the dishes in. Have a snack, maybe yogurt melts.

9:00 Follow Mommy around and help with chores around the house. Practice standing without holding onto anything.

9:30 Mommy sings "I Am A Child of God," then down for a nap.

10:45 Have a bite to eat

11:00 Dine on some lunch. Maybe dinner leftovers or turkey and bread.

11:30 Head out to run errands or do something fun. Play with toys in the carseat.

1:00 Come home. Play around, make some messes, dance to any music that comes on.

1:30 Have a snack. Pears are a delight.

2:00 Nap time!

3:30 Have a bite to eat

4:00 Play, tease, drive cars - the most favorite toy. Squeal excitedly when Daddy comes home. Follow him around the house. Try to climb in the shower with him.

5:00 Either whine or make a huge mess of the kitchen while Mommy makes dinner.

5:30 Eat dinner, mostly bits of what the family is eating.

6:00 Unload the dishwasher while Mommy loads it

6:15 Walk #2. Smile every time Anybody looks at you.

6:45 Bath time with Brother. Try to stand and climb out the whole time you're in. Get out, get dressed, then try to climb back in while Brother is still in.

7:00 Crawl around Brother's room while Mommy reads a story. Squirm through family prayers.

7:30 Have a bite to eat. Off to bed.

Oh the busy life of 10 month old Luke!

Baby Feet

When Jack was a baby, I always put him in cute little shoes. With Luke, I tried a couple of times, but since he took them off in 3 seconds flat, I gave up. But I came across Jack's old flip flops and just couldn't resist. He tried to take them off at first, but then got busy standing and getting into things. His little feetsies just look too cute!

The Jack and Luke Show

Jack is quite the singer.

Here he is singing the Blue's Clue Song

"We just figured out Blue's Clues, we just figured out Blue's Clues, because we're really smart."

Luke is an amazing dancer.
Check out these moves

Jack's current favorite to sing is his ABC's...

My boys have brought their show to the public recently.

Jack sang the WHOLE bike ride.
I'm sure our neighbors thoroughly enjoyed it

And Luke danced to his brother's amazing singing

Beach Brothers

We made plans to meet friends at the beach today, but sadly one got sick so they had to cancel. We decided to go ahead anyway since it was such a nice day.

We went to the beach here in town on the lake. The boys had a great time digging in the sand. We had a picnic and just enjoyed a day that wasn't too hot and humid.

Hopefully there are more days like this to come!

Comforting Words

While in Walmart, something scared Luke and he started to cry.

Jack's comforting words: don't worry, Ukey. There are people here, not monsters!

Pretty Boy

Since Luke was born, people have told me that he's such a beautiful baby. And I tend to agree.

And even as he's pushing 10 months, he's still getting it.

Last night while we were out, we were told by multiple, very different people that he's such a pretty baby. It's not the most manly compliment, but it's still true.

We love our pretty boy!

Mall Rats

It is unbearably hot outside, so we've been searching for fun indoor things to do. One of our favorites is to go to the mall and play. And now that school is back in session we don't have to worry about big kids knocking us over.

Today we had a great time playing in the playground. At first Jack was very protective of his brother. He kept saying, "I don't want anyone bugging Ukey!" He followed Luke everywhere. But then he made a friend and they ran around like crazy men together and Luke just crawled around and explored. He continued to practice standing all on his own. He's getting good. Both boys were full of smiles.

Afterwards we walked around and looked at the different stores. Jack always requests to look at sunglasses. He tried on a few pair and looked very cool.

It was a great way to beat the heat!

We Just Figured Out Blue's Clues

Have you ever watched Blue's Clues?

It was on back in the day when my sister was little. They show it on Nick Jr sometimes and it's on Netflix in case you want to catch it.

Jack has recently snazzed onto it. And we have been playing it ALL THE TIMe!

He is always Steve, I am Blue (I just love being a dog) and Luke is Magenta, Blue's friend. If Dallin is around, he gets to be Mr. Pepper.

We look for clues, write them down in our Handy Dandy Notebook and sit in our Thinking Chair. It's too much fun.

So come on over for some Blue's Clues. Because we're really smart!

You Can't Catch Me!

Since Jack got his new bike, we've stuck to riding in the driveway while he gets the hang of it and becomes more comfortable.
Well, he is getting so much better at riding, so we decided to try it out on our street.

He did awesome!
He rode along so well and kept telling me, "You can't catch me! I'm too fast!"
Occasionally I would have to help him get going again, but he has improved so much since his first ride.

Check out the concentration.

Riding is serious business

And away he goes!

A Perfect Beach Day

The last few weeks have been long for all of us.
Between Dallin working long hours and the miserable stomach flu hitting Luke, then me, then Jack, we haven't gotten out much and were all ready for some fun today.
For the last week, Jack has been begging to go to the beach.
So we went.
And it was the perfect day to be there.

There was a light breeze.
Just enough for great kite-flying, not so bad you'll blow away.
And it created the perfect temperature.

Jack even braved flying it on his own - for about 30 seconds.

The water was perfect - not the warm bath tub temperature it usually is.
It was cool enough that it was refreshing.
We had a great time playing and swimming.

Luke was in absolute heaven.
He got to play with Daddy, crawl around, and explore.

He was obsessed with watching the kite.
Every couple of minutes, he would have to make sure it was still up in the air (we had attached it to the truck to keep it flying) and giggled in delight when he saw it again.

Jack kept busy digging.
He first started digging for treasure.
When he couldn't find any treasure, he contented himself digging for shells.

Luke had no fear when it came to the water.
He would just crawl right out into the waves and smile happily.
He didn't even seem to mind when they hit him in the face.
I think he would have kept crawling to South America if we'd let him.
Such a cute little water baby.

The boys built a sandcastle with a moat, bridge, and multiple towers.
It was pretty amazing.

Can you get any happier?

We brought our grill and grilled up hot dogs in the back of the truck.

Tail gate party!

Yum, yum!

We couldn't have asked for a better beach day and are all feeling happy and refreshed after some summer fun!
