I Feel Appreciated!

This week is Teacher Appreciation Week and boy, have I felt appreciated by my students! Monday was Wear Your Teacher's Favorite Color Day - most of my class was decked out in red. Tuesday they brought items from my "Wish List." Today they were supposed to bring or draw a picture of my favorite flower. I received some beautiful tulips! Along with that, I am the proud owner of some beautiful, second grade drawn tulip pictures! I can't wait to see what tomorrow and Friday brings!

More Pictures from the Tulip Festival

I am having a hard time picking which of my Tulip Festival pictures to post, so I'll just make multiple posts. I hope you enjoy the pictures as much I enjoyed being there

Love Amongst the Tulips

On Saturday, we went to the Tulip Festival at the Gardens of Thanksgiving Point. Everytime we've driven by Thanksgiving Point and seen the sign, I've expressed my desire to go since tulips are my favorite flower. Dallin got the hint and took me. It was gorgeous! I took a billion pictures because I couldn't get enough of the flowers!

His Summer 'Do

When I got out of the shower this morning, this is what I found:

Dallin was getting himself ready for the summer and working outside by giving himself his summer haircut. I personally liked the way it looked mid-haircut:

He had so much hair!!! His hair is so thick!

The finished product:

So hot!!

The Final Wednesday

Every Wednesday night since the beginning of January, I have been abandoned, left at home to my own devices. Dallin has been taking a class at the BYU Salt Lake Center which meets every Wednesday night from 7:30 to 10:00. Now some people might relish this alone time. It would be the perfect time to get things done, watch what you want on TV, read a book. Yet, for some reason, I hate it! First of all, I miss my honey when he's gone. The house is just lonely without him. What did I do all those years that I lived on my own? Secondly, I get spooked being here alone. There is just something creepy about the basement at night, so I'm afraid to venture down. Plus I hear little noises that scare me. This makes it impossible for me to fall asleep until my big, strong man comes home to protect me. So I've been staying up way past my bed time on Wednesday nights.
But finally, these lonely Wednesday night have come to a close. Dallin has just finished taking his final for that class and is driving home right now. Hooray, hooray! And this means that he is officially done with finals for this semester! No more classes until September. Now he's just a working stiff (no pun intended for those of you who realize that he works at the cemetery). That means that we are just a little closer to summer!

(To spice up this post, I've included a picture of me left to my own devices)

A Quick Visit

Last weekend some of my family passed through town. While taking little Whitney back to BYU-I, they stopped by our house on the way up and then again on the way back. It was a girl's trip, so my mom, Sister Sassy, Aunt Shari, and Cousin Shelby made the trek with Whitney. We were able to visit my school, take a fascinating tour of our house (so now I don't need to do any virtual tours for Shari), watch my mom buy out the entire Deseret Book, and tour the thrilling BYU Provo. Good times were had by all, at least I think...

My Top Albums

I saw this on someone else's blog and thought it was pretty cool. You pick your top album from each year from 1990 to the present. With mine, it isn't necessarily from that year, but it is one that I listened to that year, or as close as I come. Say what you might about my music taste through the years, but I like it.

1990 - Paul Abdul, Forever Your Girl

1991 - Mariah Carey, Mariah Carey

1992 - Madonna, The Immaculate Collection

1993 - Wilson Phillips, Wilson Phillips

1994 - Sheryl Crow, Tuesday Night Music Club

1995 - Alanis Morisette, Jagged Little Pill

1996 - Counting Crows, August and Everything After

1997 - The Titanic Soundtrack

1998 - Gin Blossoms, Congratulations, I'm Sorry

1999 - Backstreet Boys, Millennium

2000 - U2, All That You Can't Leave Behind

2001 - Backstreet Boys, Black and Blue

2002 - John Mayer, Room for Squares

2003 - Justin Timberlake, Justified

2004 - Jack Johnson, In Between Dreams

2005 - Kelly Clarkson, Breakaway

2006 - Dashboard Confessional, Dusk and Summer

2007 - Gwen Stefani, The Sweet Escape

2008 - Jack Johnson, Sleep Through the Static

Always Working Hard

This morning, after lounging in bed for awhile, I finally pulled myself out of the comfort and went in search of my husband who I knew had already been up for hours. He was nowhere to be found. At last, when I looked outside, this is the sight I beheld:

He is such a hard worker! I married a man who can't sit around and be lazy - he's always doing something and getting stuff done! After mowing and fertilizing the lawn, he cleaned out the workroom in the basement and swept the garage. This was all done before he set off to work! He is amazing! I am so lucky to have him! I love you, Mr. Hard-Worker!

The Kids Are Out To Play!

Today was a relatively warm day, at least compared to yesterday, so we took our "kids" out to play. While Roxy and Colby, our "adopted" children (we are taking care of them while my aunt and uncle are on their mission), live outdoors, our "real" children, Lolo and Mo, haven't been outside since winter kicked off.

Lolo loved being outside and kept trying to take off. I think she especially enjoyed eating "fresh" food, since we've been feeding her store bought lettuce all winter.

Colby wants some love! He wants our constant attention everytime we are outside with him.

Roxy is one tough looking dog, but she's really very sweet to people. But other dogs better watch out! She tries to get at any dog she sees while we are walking her. We have to hold on tight!

Dallin says that I don't love Mo, and I'll admit, he's not my favorite of the children! I'm scared of him! He's very creepy and slithery! But he's Dallin's baby, so as long as he takes care of him, I'm fine with it.

Popcorn Popping

Monday was a GORGEOUS day! I think it actually hit 80 degrees! This warm turn of events signalled our chance to work in the yard.

Our grass has been looking so sad since the snow melted off, so we decided to give it a little extra TLC. We picked up some fertilizer stuff and sprinkled that on our lawn. Then we went through the fun process of trying to figure out the sprinkler system and how to turn it on. After much work and frustration, Dallin got it figured it out and our lawns and flowers had their thirst quenched!

It was so nice just to be outside, basking in the glow of the much missed sun and breathing in the fresh air. I love seeing things starting to turn green again, the flowers popping up, and the trees beginning to blossom with their popcorn.

I'm glad that we were able to enjoy it while it lasted. By Tuesday the temperature had dropped almost 40 degrees! Yesterday the wind blew like mad and we even saw some snowflakes! Let's pray for another gorgeous day before Spring Break ends!
