Halloween Eve

Tonight we carved our pumpkins.

Everyone had their own pumpkin.

Jack had a baby pumpkin.

Daddy had a daddy-sized pumpkin

Mommy had a mommy-sized pumpkin

Do you see the resemblance?

Voila!

Happy Halloween!

In other Halloween Eve news, Jack woke up from his nap in a very happy mood, so I thought, hey, let's take pictures of him in his Halloween costume.

Weeks ago I had purchased a very cute jack-0-lantern costume. It seemed to be big with room to grow. I was so excited for my little Jack to be a jack-0-lantern and so proud of myself for planning ahead.

Well, someone had a huge growth spurt in the last three weeks. The costume was WAY too small. He is way too tall for it. Panic set in. Luckily Target let me return it without a receipt, but they were very picked over in the baby costume department (hey, it's the day before Halloween, for heaven's sake). I felt like I looked like such a bad mom, waiting to get my kid's costume the day before. But I tried.

We tried another store, but, alas, they too were out of jack-o-lantern costumes. So we got something else.

Stay tuned tomorrow for this last minute costume...

Mommy's Little Helper

Jack likes to be involved in everything I do these days...
so today he helped with the laundry!

Mr. Wiggles

Moments later...

Someone has learned to scoot on his back.

(Oh, and guess what he maneuvered himself to face.
The TV, of course.)

It's the Great Pumpkin, Jack Baby

Last night Charlie Brown was on.

I thought that Jack would have no interest, but due to his cranky disposition (7-8 tends to be his fussy time), I thought I'd try to distract him with it for a little bit.

Little did I know that he would love it. He sat there mesmerized, sometimes talking to it. He very much liked it.

Only problem - he wished it was commercial free. Every commercial really ticked him off. Luckily Charlie Brown came back and he was all better.

Guess Who's In Town?

And right outside our apartment...
ESPN College Game Day was broadcasting live from the BYU football stadium parking lot...which happens to be very close to our apartment.

Now things are usually crazy around here on game days, but it was extra crazy and the game doesn't even start for 5 more hours.

People were camped out all night (and we even discovered a tent right outside our bedroom window this morning)

Screaming started at 5am.

The marching band started at about 7:30.

And amazingly, super exhausted Jack slept right through it. He was out late last night
(maybe he needs a curfew?)

Let's hope all the excitement can be channelled into a win for the Cougars!

What, you ask, is he staring so intently at?

Why, the TV, of course!

I'm afraid I have a TV lover on my hands...

Strolling Through the Leaves

Fall is here.

The leaves are many different hues and crunchy underfoot.

Each day we load up the stroller to enjoy.

Some days Jack has to put on his hoody to keep out the autumn chill.
Other days the weather is warm enough to just sit back and relax in the stroller and take a snooze.

Whatever the day we love our autumn strolls!

Flirt

Jack went to Relief Society yesterday. For the very first time.

He took full advantage of the fact that he was the only boy there.

He charmed those ladies with his smile and sweet coos.

They were in the palm of his hand.

Just a little hint, Jack - it's even more charming if you refrain from pooping all over your mom during Relief Society...

Oh, What A Night!

My boys don't seem to handle thunderstorms too well.

Last night, at about 1:30, Jack awakened, screaming. I got him up and tried to comfort him, when the thunder began. My little barometer sensed the change in weather and couldn't handle it.

Once he's comforted and I'm rocking him back to sleep, I hear Dallin get up and leave the house. Very confused, I begin to worry that he's sleepwalking. And, in a way, I was correct. In his half-asleep state, he thought that the wind was banging the dumpster doors and was going to do the neighborhood a service and fix the problem. Only thing is - it was the thunder - a problem he could not solve. Luckily he returned and I wasn't forced to go searching for him in the storm.

Let's hope that there are no more thunderstorms tonight. I don't know if my boys can handle another night of the stress.

The Legend of Purple Hippo

Let me introduce you to Purple Hippo.

Purple Hippo is a very popular figure in our household. He lives on Jack's bouncy seat.

When Jack was very little, he would stare at Purple Hippo, fascinated.

Then he began talking to Purple Hippo, sometimes quite loudly.

Now Jack and Purple Hippo have reached another stage in their relationship.

Jack grabs Purple Hippo's red ring and moves him around. The look on Jack's face is priceless when he watches Purple Hippo move - it's a look of awe as he tries to figure how exactly that thing is moving.

Now we'll see what the next phase will be in the saga of Jack and Purple Hippo.

Mr. Big Foot

See that foot - it's big!
My child has big feet.
He fits perfectly into all of his pajamas - except for the feet.
He has to scrunch up his poor little toes and I'm tempted to cut out the feet.
And then we've got another problem...
He can't keep his socks on.
He's a master of maneuvering those big feet out of those socks.
I find little socks all over the place and often find myself searching for missing socks.
What is a mommy to do?
Oh, Mr. Big Foot!

Cruising the Loop

So much red, orange, and yellow, a sight to behold.

Crisp, cool air, bringing goosebumps to the skin.

Wind rustling through the trees.

That sums up our Saturday afternoon on the Alpine Loop, with the changing leaves, the sweet words of General Conference, and the great company of Whitney.
