Happy Halloween!

Oooooo....spooky!

We celebrated Halloween yesterday.

We started out the festivities by having the uncles over.

We danced to Halloween music, watched football, drank apple cider and ate powdered donuts, and had pizza.

Then we headed out trick or treating.

We stopped at homes of family and friends.

While we only went to four places, Jack still ended up with lots of candy.

The perks of being so cute.

Jack enjoyed his candy, as you can tell by the chocolate on his face.

He also liked sorting his candy this morning.

He spent almost an hour sorting through it - what a busy man!

We had a happy Halloween and hope you did too!

A Jack-O-Lantern Around Town

A cute little JACK-o-lantern has been spotted all around Provo this week.

On Wednesday...

He went to the Ward Mother's Group Halloween Party.

He danced, read books, colored, played with bubbles, played pin-the-nose on the jack-o-lantern, played with edible play dough, and ate cookies and drank apple cider.

On Thursday...

He met some friends at the library for story time.

He enjoyed the puppet show, but his favorite part was at the end when they turned music on and he could get his groove on.

On Friday...

He went to the Ward Halloween Party and Chili Cook Off.

He ate a bit of cheesy potatoes and corn bread and played with the other kids.

But he seemed like he would rather be at the party next door, which had the music pumping. You know how this kid likes to dance!

And tonight he's going to dress up again for some trick-or-treating!

Carve Your Pumpkin

This afternoon we pulled out our pumpkins and turned them into jack-o-lanterns...

Jack had a blast and was very excited

He enjoyed digging out the seeds and goop from the inside.

But he had to have Mommy help him a little.

Jack loves the pumpkins and every few minutes walks over to where they are, points, and laughs.

Family Fun Weekend

We have been so lucky to have family visit us the last two weekends. This weekend my dad and sister visited us. Jack had so much fun with them.

On Saturday they all went to the wet and cold BYU game.

Even Jack got his face painted!

Jack liked having Grandpa read him books and wrestle with him.

Jack thought Aunt Whitney was lots of fun too.

She cracked him up and he liked helping her get ready.

We had so much fun and look forward to seeing you guys at Thanksgiving!

The First Snow

This morning we woke up to a couple of inches of snow on the ground. Every time Jack looked out the window, he would cover his mouth with both hands and squeal.

Luckily Jack's cousin, Eli, sent him a nice warm winter coat just last week and he wore it for the first time today, along with his mittens.

Jack loved it when I made snowballs for him to throw.

Unfortunately his snow boots are still a little too big right now, so our feet got cold pretty quick, especially since the snow was melting quickly.

So we headed back inside to warm up with some hot (or rather lukewarm) cocoa.

Who doesn't like to drink cocoa with a straw?

15 Month Stats

Jack went to the doctor yesterday for his 15 month check up.

He is...

20 lbs. 12oz (7th %tile)

31.25 inches long (56th %tile)

19.1 inch head circumference (85th %tile)

Yes, he is average heigh and skinny with a big head.

But he's pretty cute that way.

Down on the Farm

This week Farmer Jack put on his overalls and headed down to the farm for some fun.

He was able to see many farm animals

They even let Farmer Jack go inside the pen to play with the animals

He was a little afraid of the goats since they would come right up to him and, well, frankly, they are bigger than Farmer Jack

He liked the pigs so much

He even tried to get right down and talk to them

Farmer Jack also examined the pumpkin crop this year

Rode the horsey tire swings

Played in the corn

Got nervous when his dad buried him in the corn

Went down the slide, and then kept begging to go down again and again and again

Wandered through the hay maze

Rode the farm animal train

And jumped in the hay

Then he loaded up for a hay ride

He insisted on standing so that he could get a better view

The hay ride dropped him off at the pumpkin patch where he picked out a few good pumpkins

He made his assistant, Farmer Dal, carry the pumpkins back while he followed behind.

What a great day on the farm!

Sick Days

Poor Jack is sick. He has a runny nose and a sore throat. So we've been staying home the last few days. But if you know Jack, you know that's a hard thing. That kid loves to be on the go and always doing something, and especially loves to be outside. We've been trying hard to entertain the little man indoors while he recovers and sips on his orange juice (we got it in a juice box, so it's really cool, therefore fun to drink).

We cut out and colored pumpkins today while we listened to our Primary music CD. Jack had more fun putting the crayons in and out of the box than actually coloring, so Mommy got stuck doing most of the work. But now we have pumpkins hanging in our window for Jack to enjoy. We also played with Halloween doggy stickers. They are on all of us now.

Jack has kept busy climbing on everything. He has now figured out how to climb up on the couches and then onto a table where he's now supposed to go. Little stinker!

We have been doing A LOT of reading. Jack seems to have 3 books that he really likes and we read them over and over and over and over again. Dallin and I have them memorized now. Sometimes (although it's very rare) Jack will actually just sit and read by himself, but mostly he loves to be read to.

A major problem with the long days at home is that Jack's nap schedule is all messed up. Now many of you know that Jack is a terrible sleeper, but over the last few months we've at least had a good consistent nap schedule. He would take 2 one hour to an hour and a half naps a day. But a few weeks ago, Jack decided he only wanted to take one nap a day. At first it started out that he would to take 1 two and a half hour nap in the morning and then not sleep the rest of the day. Then it changed to just taking 1 one and half hour nap. Well, since he's been sick, he'll only sleep for a half hour at a time. We've managed to get him to take 2 of those naps over the last few days, but he wakes up terribly unhappy. And really, he should be sleeping more to get better. Hopefully this is just temporary and he'll go back to taking good naps soon. And one benefit of his terrible napping yesterday - he only woke up once last night (this is a kid who generally wakes up about 4-5 times a night). Granted he did get up a 5 o'clock this morning, but still, only once is pretty good in my book. And maybe everybody can pray that Jack will start sleeping better, nighttime and naptime, because his parents are about to go crazy, and that he will start feeling better soon.
