Musical Cars

We have been playing musical cars lately. Last week Dallin sold the jeep.
Moment of silence...

That has left us with 1 1/8 of a car - the Corolla and the scooter. Unfortunately, the body work that they did on the Corolla didn't work out so well. The paint was peeling, so we took it back in today get it fixed. And I just don't think that the scooter is the most comfortable ride for me these days, seeing as my back hurts just sitting on the couch, let alone on a bumpy scooter. So we decided to rent a car.
Unveiling our current ride, our Kia Rondo, or our minivan/station wagon, as we like to call it...

Hanging With the Big Boys

Three years ago, we had a couple of babies join the family. Well, those boys are no longer babies - they are some major big boys. On our last day in Ojai, we had a family party and were able to hang out with the big boys, Wylde and Isaac. It's amazing how much they've grown up!

It was fun hanging out, eating tri tip, and watching the boys play. I was even lucky enough to get to play with them and Wylde's toy animals. Unfortunately every animal that I was got eaten by the boys' tough animals. They are majorly boys, fighting and wrestling and running around constantly. I even got tackled at one point. I guess this will get me ready for my boy!

A Day on the Lake

On Saturday, while still in Ojai, we were able to go out to the lake and do some tubing.
Okay, everyone else went out on the lake and did some tubing. I sat on the shore and watched.
My dad was at the helm, driving the boat.

Dallin was a tubing maniac. My dad says he's never seen anybody stay on the tube for so long. Dallin just kept going and going and going. He's paying for it now with some serious sore muscles.

Cassidy brought her friend Nathan and they had some fun tubing together.

The Herbrucks also made it out, although we didn't get any pictures with them.
Those who didn't make it out on the boat stayed on shore and ate and chatted. Even though the weather was a little windy, we still had a great time, especially Dallin, the Tubing Machine!

Music To My Ears

In my younger days, I took piano lessons from Mrs. Myles, who also taught my mom in her younger days. The torch has been passed to my youngest sister, Cassidy. Even though Mrs. Myles is about 90 years old, she still teaches lessons and Cassidy is one of her favorites. While we were in Ojai, we were able to go to Cassidy's piano recital.

Here is Cassidy playing "Rustles of Spring," a piece that both my mom and I had played in our Mrs. Myles days. I especially like that you can see Mrs. Myles' hair in the shot. It really adds effect.

Mrs. Myles is giving a speech on the greatness of Cassidy. She loves that girl! And who wouldn't?

Cassidy and her duet (or do-ee-et, as Mrs. Myles says it) partner, Nathan. They sounded awesome! Even the baby was dancing to their playing!

It was fun that we were able to attend the recital this year and I especially like that the recitals don't last as long as they did back in my day.

Make New Friends, But Keep The Old

I had always known who Lelah was. But it wasn't until sixth grade, when we were in the same class at school, that Lelah and I became friends. And Lelah has been a lasting friend, one that I always keep in touch with no matter where life takes us.

Here are Lelah and I right before we left for college in 2000...

We just got back from Ojai and were lucky enough to see Lelah while we were there. My how we've changed!

Lelah was nice enough to drive up from LA to see us. We were able to get some lunch, eat in the park, and visit Bart's Books. It was great to catch up with Lelah and I love that I have a friend that goes so far back and that I never lose touch with!

The Adventures of 32 Weeks

Today was my 32 week check up.
Once again all is well.
Baby has a strong heart beat.
My stomach has grown "pretty good." The doctor's words. I guess that explains all the comments.
Surprisingly I did not gain any weight since my last appointment 3 weeks ago. Nothing to worry about though since we know that our little fellow has grown for sure in the last few weeks.
At the next appointment we get to have another ultrasound and see how big he's looking. I'm excited to see him again!
My biggest complaint right now is that he prefers to push himself right up into my ribs and it gets very uncomfortable. And he's very stubborn about moving out of there. He's still quite the mover - an A student in fact. On my counting kicks chart, he scores an A almost every night. There's good and bad points to that one.
I am now exhausted all the time. I don't sleep well because I'm so uncomfortable. Does anyone have any ideas on how to sleep better with a watermelon in your belly??
32 weeks down...only 8 left...whoa!
