Cougar Tailgate Feast

Today was the last BYU home football game

We decided to have a tailgate party

At first we considered having a Jack roast

Our last Jack roast was so tasty

Unfortunately the Jack has gotten too big, so we had to go with another option

So we borrowed Andrew's Cougar Cookbook and had quite the feast

We had Mountain West Meatballs (which tasted much better than they look in this picture)

BYU-Idaho Potato Skins

Brigham's Baked Beans

And for dessert, Creamery Cookies and Cream cake

It was incredibly tasty and fun to have the uncles and Seneca over before they headed over to watch a BYU blowout of New Mexico.

Birthdays Are a Blast

Saturday was Uncle Will's birthday. What a day he had! We were invited over to his apartment in the morning for the Pre Game Pancake Party, which also included eggs and sausage. Uncle Andrew had made a sign and put balloons all over their room. Such fun!

Then that night we made enchiladas and cake to continue the festivities.

Jack waiting anxiously at the window for the guests to arrive.

Jack and Will with Will's friend Seneca. Jack loved the balloons that Uncle Andrew brought over.

Will enjoyed his lemonade pie. Luckily all the candles that the old man had didn't melt the cake!

Will got lots of presents, including a dress shirt, cologne, Cougar sweat pants, a laundry basket, a pumpkin pie, and even M&M's with his picture on them.

But it all paled in comparison to Seneca's gift. She had her cousin who is on the BYU football team get the team to sign a football for Will. It was very cool!

It seems like Will had an awesome 23rd birthday and we had a great time celebrating with him!

Misery Is...

Misery is a sick baby.

Misery is looking into red, sick baby eyes.

Misery is a baby that has had a fever off and on for over a week.

Misery is a baby that has had diarrhea for a week.

Misery is a baby that vomits off and on for a week.

Misery is being vomited on by that baby.

Misery is going to the doctor and getting no answers.

Misery is a baby that can't sleep for longer than 30 minutes, every night for 5 nights straight.

Misery is sleeping with a squirming, sleepless baby, who rolls over and throws up all over you while you try to sleep.

Misery is taking the baby to the ER at 3am.

Misery is discovering that the baby is getting the rest of his molars on top of the rest of his illnesses.

Jack got the same stomach bug that Dallin and I had earlier in the week. While we got over it in a day, his is still hanging on, endlessly, seeming to get worse. We went to the doctor and they couldn't find anything wrong and didn't give me anything to help. So after more sleeplessness and sickness, we took Jack to the ER in the middle of the night last night. They gave him Zofran to help with the vomiting and he's been doing better that way. We are alternating giving him Motrin and Tylenol every three hours for the fever and he actually slept for 2 hours on his own in his bed this afternoon. Hopefully this means he's improving and that we'll all get a good night's sleep tonight. We need it!

Stud Muffin

Ready for church on Sunday...

He got lots of compliments on how cute he looked...

And yes, all good models stand on the coffee table. It's like a runway...

Sick Sick Sick

We are all sick here at the Coffman house.

A nasty stomach bug has struck and caused misery.

Dallin has it the worst - he can't even get out of bed!

Jack and I don't feel good, but we were able to make it through the day.

After witnessing his dad throw up this morning, Jack came into the bathroom where I was getting ready, lifted to the toilet lid, and pretended to cough into the toilet. Quite the imitator, even if it's something not fun!

To entertain himself today, Jack has been busy "cooking." He gets out all the pots and pans, insists on getting a spatula, spoon, hot pad, and cooking spray. He spent hours playing his fun game and even added to it by pouring the leftovers of his lunch into the pan. Whatever keeps him happy while we're all miserable!

Fall Days

In attempt to distract ourselves from the pain of teething and to enjoy some beautiful fall weather, we've been trying to get out and play a little before things turn cold.

But first a flashback to last fall...

What a teeny tiny little man!

Now he's huge on our fall walks...
There have been some beautiful days. The leaves have changed colors, the sky is a bright blue, and it's a nice temperature. We've headed out on a few walks.

We also went to feed the ducks.
The ducks really like Jack and his bread.
At one point he had at least 10 ducks swarming him.
He's pretty popular.

He's also headed out to play in the leaves.
He had his daddy make a pile, then he would jump in and mess it up, then wait for Daddy to make it again. Too fun!

Hopefully these beautiful fall days will last!

Molars Aren't For Wimps

These pictures really have nothing to do with the post, except it was one of the few times Jack hasn't been cranky over the last week.

You see, he's getting his molars.

And molars are not fun.

They make for a very cranky baby who does not sleep well.

We've had many sleepless nights around here and days filled with tears.

Let's hope this ends soon for Jack's sake and...

Mommy and Daddy can't take it much longer either!
