Musings on Pregnancy #2 at 15 Weeks

This pregnancy definitely feels different.
I don't know if it's because this time around I have a toddler to chase after, but I am way more exhausted. When I was pregnant with Jack, I was teaching second grade. A class of second graders are way easier than just one toddler. Second graders were excited for you and understood when you needed to sit down and rest for a minute. A toddler doesn't understand and doesn't care. He wants me to do the same stuff we've always done. And you can send second graders home at 3:30 and put your feet up. The toddler is there all day and all night. I also think the exhaustion has to do with getting up so early - Jack is a very early riser!

Morning sickness seems to be hanging on. With Jack, it was basically gone by 14 weeks. But I am still throwing up at least twice a day. I've noticed the earlier we get up, the worse the morning sickness. If only Jack would just sleep in!

This time around I have a lot of headaches - at least one borderline migraine a week! No fun! I'm hoping this doesn't stick around the whole pregnancy.

I feel much bigger this time around, but I know that's natural with the second pregnancy.

I am way more emotional. I cry at some point every day. I'm pretty sure I only cried a couple of times with Jack. Does this mean I'm having a girl?

I haven't put on much weight this time around and haven't craved much. So that means I don't feel like eating too unhealthy and I'm trying to make what I eat count.

So any guesses on what we're having? I'm going to put a poll up on the side - please vote!

Thanks for listening to me complain - I know Dallin is tired of hearing it!

Sunny Days, Chasing the Clouds Away

The last few days have been beautiful and Jack has been obsessed with being outside.
He starts begging at the door at 7am and I try to hold him off for as long as I can.
Today Dallin had the day off so we went to Salem Pond and did some fishing and played on the toys.
While we didn't catch anything, we did enjoy the beautiful scenery.

Jack liked helping his daddy fish, as you can tell by the cheesy grin.
He also made some friends on the toys (I actually knew their aunt, small world)
He was very upset about leaving.
He can't get enough of the outdoors.

A BIG Announcement

Jack, July, 2009

Coming around Halloween 2011, we will have another one of these around our house.

Baby Coffman #2 is officially due November 5.

We'll find out if it's of the girl or boy variety on June 13th.

We're very excited, but are hoping the morning sickness and exhaustion goes away soon.

Jack doesn't really get it yet, but we're hoping he'll be a very loving big brother.

Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers out there - whether you have children, will have children, or have influenced children for good!
I'm grateful to my little Jack for allowing me to be his mommy and for letting me learn and make mistakes as I figure the mommy thing out. I love him very much!
I'm also grateful for my mom for raising me and teaching me many things and being patient with me.
I'm grateful to my mother-in-law for raising such a wonderful boy for me to marry.
Happy Mother's Day!

Future Geologists of America

We have a geologist on our hands.
For months, he has been fascinated by rocks.
Everywhere we go, he has to get a rock to bring home.
We have rocks from the bank, the store, people's houses.
You name it, we have a rock from there.
He will spend the longest time outside gathering his rocks into piles.
At night, he falls asleep with a rock in his hand.
When I vacuum, I have to be on the look out for rocks to be sure I don't run over them.
I thought this was a passing phase, but it just lingers on and on and on and our house is becoming over run with rocks.
I think we need to enroll him in a geology program.

Just My Size

Normally Jack sits on our couch or chairs, but he has a hard time climbing up into the tall seats.
Now he has his own little chair - a very cool Toy Story chair, to be exact.
He enjoys sitting in it to watch TV.
And he always loves to read some good books while relaxing.
I think he looks super cute, especially since his little feet still don't even touch the floor.
But he still thinks he's big stuff.

Tulip Festival

Last year when we went to the Tulip Festival we were sweating in our shorts.
This year we had to bundle up in our jackets and we were still freezing.

We rented a golf cart to cruise around in.
Jack loves a good ride.
We ended up bundling him up in his jacket, Dallin's jacket and the blanket, and he was still miserable.

He loved looking at all the pretty flowers though and pointed out every flower bed we passed.

He also loved looking at the brook.

"You want me to smile?"

The fishies were very exciting!

We even saw a goose and her goslings.

Eventually Jack's face had this permanent expression, so we headed out sooner than planned.
But all in all, we loved seeing the tulips and hope to go again next year on a much warmer day!
