Our Easter Best

I got the boys matching Easter outfits and was really excited to get some good shots of the two of them before church.
Luke was agreeable to the idea.
As previously mentioned, Jack was not exactly at his best.
He wasn't in the mood to smile, eventually couldn't even sit up, then took off.
So here's our attempt at an Easter photo shoot:

Easter 2012

Easter was great this year (aside from a two year old on a crazy sugar high and the tantrums that ensued).

The Easter bunny visited and left the boys swimming suits and towels to get ready for summer. He also left Jack a hat that he wore while hunting for eggs. With every egg he found, Jack let us know that "this egg has candy too.". Every single time. There was baby food also hidden throughout the house for Luke.

We had some biscuits and gravy for breakfast. One person may have just eaten candy.

Then we put on our Easter best for pictures (more to come on that). And off to church we went.

After church and naps, we had a delicious Easter dinner - ham, cheesy potatoes, green bean casserole, and rolls.

It was a happy day!

Hope you had a happy Easter too!

Ready for Easter

We have been getting for Easter for the last week.

We have been reading in The Friend magazine about Jesus' resurrection. Jack has been worried that it's too dark in the tomb and that Jesus will need a flashlight. He is also fascinated by the picture of Jesus on the cross.

We've also read Happy Easter, Curious George! Jack really likes it. We've talked a lot about the Easter bunny and Jack will tell you all about what the Easter bunny does.

We have been practicing finding eggs by hiding the plastic eggs all over the house and finding them. Again. And again. And again.

And this morning we dyed our Easter eggs. Jack loved it. He wished there were more eggs.

Luke has been sporting the classic Easter pajamas that Jack wore two Easters ago.

We are ready. Bring on Easter!

The Lazy Hazy Days of Spring

I've been told that spring is the best time of year around here. Not too hot, not too humid, not as many bugs. So we are trying to live it up and play outside while we can. Swimming, park, hopscotch (Jack saw it on tv and now loves to play it), eating Popsicles, and just being outside. Here is a random sampling of pictures on my phone from our outdoor adventures.

The Revenge of Luke

Jack has been into Luke this week. Like, really into him. Like constantly in his face. ALL. THE. TIME. It's been driving both Luke and I crazy. Luke can't stand being messed with and Jack is not always that gentle. I can't stand that I can't leave Luke unguarded for a second so it seems impossible to get much done.

Well today Jack was laying on the floor. I decided it was Luke's turn to torture his brother. So I put him on Jack and let him go crazy. He sucked and pulled on his face to his heart's content. And Jack actually loved it since it was almost the wrestling he wants to do with his brother. Let's hope it'll keep Jack satisfied for awhile.

Oh, wait, no. There he goes after his brother again!

In the Midst of the Storm

Today there was a storm that passed through - thunder, lightning, and rain. We watched it move in through our front window. The wind knocked our neighbor's empty trash can into the street. Jack was concerned and kept close tabs on the situation. Every minute or two he would say, "Me check on trash can.". Then he would let me know "Trash can ok." This went in for at least an hour. Once the storm passed he helped me pick it up. He's such a thoughtful fellow.

Feasting

This weekend was LDS General Conference, where twice a year the prophets speak to us and we watch it on TV rather than going to our normal church building.
To learn more or to watch, go to lds.org

We feasted on the words of the prophets.
Some of my favorites were from Elder Holland, President Uchtdorf, and of course President Monson.

We also feasted on food - and lots of it.

We had kolaches and donuts, spaghetti carbonara and salad to enjoy the Saturday sessions.
While Dallin was gone to Priesthood session, the boys helped me bake a butter cake.
On Sunday, Jack made us some pancakes and sausage.  Then we had meatballs, wings, stuffed potatoes, chips, and lemonade.

Yeah, we ate too much.
But it was good.

It was good weekend, full of good words, good food, and good family.
