Mexico

For our tenth anniversary, we traveled to Mexico!

We spent seven days at the Grand Sirenis resort on the Mayan Riviera. It was an all inclusive resort, so ate lots of tasty food and drank tons of virgin pina coladas. And even enjoyed massages one day!

We spent every day on the beach, reading, snorkeling, and relaxing. Other times we would float the Lazy River or swim in the pools.

We hiked to some Mayan ruins and explored

Each night there were theme nights and shows. We loved the Michael Jackson show and the presentation of The Lion King.

We also enjoyed lots of beautiful sunsets

On our final night, we were able to see sea turtles coming in to lay their eggs. It was too dark to take pictures, but amazing nonetheless

It was the an amazing trip that we will never forget. Plus we got upgraded to first class coming and going.

We are so grateful to Grammy and Aunt Sass for watching the kids while we celebrated.

Baptism Pictures

In preparation for Jack's baptism, we took some pictures for the program.

Due to the heat and humidity, we only got a few pics where he didn't look like he was dying. Here are a few of the outtakes:

Luckily he's handsome with or without a smile

The Final Meet

On his birthday, Jack has his final swim meet of the season. There was a delay in getting started while it poured rain for an hour, but then the skies cleared and it was a beautiful evening to swim. Grammy and Aunt Sass were there and Aunt Sass took pictures

Jack swam his little heart out. He swam freestyle, back stroke, and a relay

Between races, we had fun playing and eating

We are proud of how hard Jack worked this season and what a great swimmer he is becoming

Happy Birthday to Jack

Our big boy turned EIGHT!!

He decided to celebrate at the Children's Museum this year!

He invited lots of friend to celebrate with him!

They had fun playing on the exhibits

He had fun opening presents and loved his Star Wars Cookie Cake

We are so proud of the smart, sensitive boy Jack is growing into. It's great to be eight!

For The Beauty of the Earth

Sometimes in the summertime, when the heat, humidity, and bugs seem unbearable, I wonder what the heck I'm doing in Louisiana. Then I spend a morning enjoying these sights and listening to my kids' excitement over seeing a turtle family, an alligator, and a pelican, and all is good again. Well played, Louisiana, well played

Golf Gone Wild

As a reward for good behavior, we went mini golfing! It started off with smiles and sunshine...

Then things slowly took a turn for the worse. Jack's competitive side came out and it wasn't pretty.

Then out of nowhere, came a downpour. Like, a ginormous downpour.

When the clouds finally parted, the golf course was a lake. But the kids didn't care. We finished our game

And visited Luke the Lion, in honor of Dallin friend Luke.

The day was definitely filled with highs and lows and lots of water!
