More Healing Water

Hot Springs is so beautiful and we just couldn't get enough of the beautiful downtown.

We walked the Promenade Trail again and checked out more of those healing hot springs.

It's amazing how the hot springs just run right through town.  You can be healed anywhere!

What’s Up, Al Capone?

We just happened upon Al Capone relaxing downtown, so Luke had to say hi.

Climb Every Mountain

We hit the trails for a full day of hiking in Hot Springs.

It started out very chilly as we headed up the mountain on our first hike.

We took part of the Sunset Trail to get to Balancing Rock.

They were very brave climbing out to the rock and thankfully no one fell off!

The trail was a lot longer than we thought it would be, so we were pretty wore out.  We took a rest at a park for a bit and ate some lunch before heading over to the West Mountain Trail for more hiking.

There were beautiful views of the city from this trail.

After 21,000 steps, we were exhausted, so we stopped off for the most delicious Italian food around and then headed back to the hotel to get some rest!

Taste Those Healing Waters

After the Gangster Museum, we did a little more exploring and found out about Hot Springs' famous healing waters.

There are fountains all throughout that that the healing hot spring water bubble out of.  We were able to have a taste.

We walked part of the path through town above Bathhouse Row.

Then we were able to tour an old bathhouse that is no longer in use.

They claimed that the water could treat you for anything that ailed you and many people came to the bathhouses to relax - plus they had beautiful architecture.

We are loving our time in Hot Springs!

Ice Cream and Gangsters, Oh My!

After our trip to the museum, we headed into old downtown Hot Springs.  It is breathtaking and so full of history.

We took an ice cream break - they even had our favorite huckleberry ice cream!

Then we went on a tour through the Gangster Museum and learned all about Hot Springs sordid past that involved Al Capone, Lucky Luciano, and all the guys you wouldn't want to mess with! Hot Springs is full of history and stories!

Hot Springs or Bust

We are excited for a long weekend getaway to Hot Springs, Arkansas!

Our first stop - the Mid-America Science Museum.  The kids loved it and could easily have spent all day there.  There were so many fun exhibits to explore and learn from.

They especially liked making the balls shoot from the water spouts and climbing through the exciting mine shafts.  They even dragged Mom and Dad through a few times.

There were also fun dinosaur exhibits outside, where the kids could dig for fossils.

There was an awesome deck area where you could see the pretty views.

Luke loved the rope bridges, but Kate was terrified to cross them.

The Christmas decorations weren't taken down yet, so we got to see all the dinosaurs dressed in their Christmas best.

And just before we finished, Kate worked up the nerve to cross the rope bridges!  She's tougher than she looks.

Our trip to Hot Springs is already off to a great start!
