4 Months Older and Wiser

Today was Jack's 4 month wellness check-up.

Things to know about Jack at 4 months:

14.02 lbs (24th percentile)

24.75 inches long (35th pecentile)

Clothing size: 6 months

Hat size: 9 months

Drools a lot and wants to put EVERYTHING in his mouth (pretty sure there's a tooth or two on the way)

Loves to look in the mirror. Whenever he is fussy, the way to cheer him up is to let him look at himself in the bathroom mirror

Scoots on his back. Can scoot a little to the side on his tummy

Rolls easily from stomach to back. And today while waiting for the doctor he rolled from back to stomach.

Enjoys talking in his loud voice

Very ticklish on the tummy and feet.

Likes going places and people watching

Loves bath time. His favorite bath toy is a cloth octopus, probably because he can suck the water out of it. He also enjoys trying to catch rubber ducky between his feet. He's pretty good at it. And last night he decided to lounge in the tub with one leg up, hanging out of the tub.

Would prefer to not wear clothes. Life is so much better when you're just in a diaper.

Has a fascination with big people food. Lunges for it whenever it's nearby.

Nicknames: Goober, Goober Face, Little Man, Mr. Baby, Buddy, Stinker/Stinker Pants

Is a generally happy baby and we are so glad he's ours. We love our Jack!

The Firsts Thanksgiving

This was Jack's first Thanksgiving and it was filled with tons of firsts for the little man.

First Flight

Jack took to the skies to go to Houston to visit Nana and Pop Pop. He was amazing on the flight. On the way there, he slept for the first half of the flight and then just hung out and smiled and looked around the second half. And on the way home, he slept the whole flight and woke up in a great mood. We got compliments from several passengers on how great he was and, of course, how cute he is.

First Real Playtime with the Cousins

Last time Jack got together with Savannah and Cami, he was too little to really play with them. Now he enjoyed laughing at them and pulling their hair and even participating in a rousing game of hide and seek (if you're hiding with Jack, it's pretty much a given you'll be found first. He hasn't learned the art of being quiet quite yet). And they loved playing with him too. When we were leaving, Cami said that she didn't want him to leave because when she saw him next "he wouldn't be cute anymore." That cracked me up. (And he missed cousin Eli!!)

First Deep Fried Turkey

While Jack didn't actually sample the turkey, he enjoyed watching Pop Pop make it, as you can tell by the focused look on both his and his dad's faces.

First Time Away from Mommy for the Afternoon

The two of us tend to be attached all the time and haven't spent more than an hour apart. But Mommy went to see New Moon and Jack stayed home and hung out with the guys. And he didn't seem to have missed Mom all that much. When I got home, he was too busy trying to grab a blanket and put it in his mouth to actually say hello. I think Mommy missed Baby more than he missed her.

First Time Fishing

Well, Jack didn't actually fish. But his daddy did a lot of fishing and even caught a fish that was about 30 inches long. If you were wondering where Dallin was during the bulk of our trip, you can tell by that first picture. Jack liked watching though and enjoyed hanging out with Nana. I've never heard him laugh as much as he does when he's with her. Nana is hilarious!

First Cold

All of Jack's travels left him with this unfortunate first. He's had a runny nose and a little cough the last couple of days. But he doesn't act like he's too upset. I think the fun he had made the cold worth it.

First BYU-Utah Football Game

Jack watched his first rivalry game and was happy with the results, although he did get upset when everyone started screaming when BYU scored a touchdown in overtime.

Sunny Days, Chasing the Clouds Away

Doesn't that look like a happy child?

Well, this kid has discovered his new favorite show - Sesame Street.

He will just lay on the floor, sometimes just staring at it, other times talking and giggling at it.

It's very nice for Mom, who was able to unload the dishwasher, fold some laundry, eat some lunch, and do this blog post, all while Jack was enjoying Elmo, Big Bird, and the Gang.

Socks Are For Suckers

Like it wasn't hard enough to keep socks on those big feet;
