Jack at 1 Year

Jack has become quite the man. He is a very busy person that never stops moving, especially now that he walks everywhere. The constant mess around our house is a testament to that. Toys are everywhere and if you pick them up, he will follow behind and pull them right back out. He has learned how to put things away, but wants to get them out again quickly. One of his favorite places to put things is in the trash and he just recently discovered the toilet. Yesterday a little lamp that you attach to your book lost it's life to the toilet. So fun.

He thinks that he's big enough to walk everywhere and wants to head outside and into the parking lot. We spend most of church walking around the building. He's just everywhere and he's getting quick.

Jack has become a much better eater lately, probably because we're in the process of weaning him. He's pretty good about eating his vegetables, but his favorite foods are yogurt, mac and cheese, fruit snacks, and he always wants to drink what we're drinking. He eats pretty much whatever we have for dinner and always makes a big mess.

Jack still has his struggles with sleeping. Mostly he wakes up twice a night (which I consider a good night after so many months of 5+ times a night), but will still have a least one terrible night a week. He takes 2 naps a day and we're working on making sure that he naps in his bed now.

Jack has the loudest voice. He is constantly jabbering and when he wants something, he grunts and points. When he gets frustrated, he screams a very high pitched scream. I'm pretty sure he never stops talking. He does say "Mama" and "Dada." I'm pretty sure he said "Puff" yesterday as he picked up one of his Puff snacks. He responds to questions and commands by doing or pointing at what you say. He gives kisses and high fives and loves to play Peek-a-boo. Jack is also an excellent dancer and really gets his groove on. He's getting a little more comfortable with people, although he still prefers Mommy and Daddy best.

We love our little Jack Jack and can't imagine our lives without our busy little man! Here's to another great year!

A Year of Growth

My baby has turned into a big boy over the last year...

Old Friends, New Little Friends

(Sorry ladies, this is the only picture of us I have scanned on my computer)

In college, the four of us were roommates.

Well, within a year, we all had baby boys.

Last week, three of us were able to get together and let the kiddos play.
Here's 3 of the boys, plus a girl

Did you know it's almost impossible to get a picture of 3 little boys under the age of 2?

It was fun to visit, but we definitely missed you Heidi!

I Often Go Walking

Jack has really taken off with his walking over the last couple of weeks.

He prefers it over crawling now and does it about 90% of the time.

He's pretty fast too - before I know it, he's in the bathroom, or pulling something down, or causing more trouble.

And he knows he's big stuff too.

He's pretty proud of his big walking.

Birthday, Part 2 - The Party Don't Stop

The day of Jack's birthday, he had so much fun.

He went swimming at Seven Peaks.

He went out to eat at Red Robin.

He got a balloon and his favorite dish, mac and cheese.

He hung out with his awesome cousins who were visiting from Colorado.

He loved opening presents and kept getting distracted by the fun gifts.
He wouldn't want to move onto the next gift because each one was so fun.

He kept squealing with delight at all the cool things
"Ohhhhhhh!"

He blew out his very first candle.

It was so fun to dump the cake out.

He preferred smearing it all over rather than eating it.

What a mess!

He got a big play hut from Mommy and Daddy that's so fun to climb through.

So big!

Thank you for all of the gifts, cards, emails, texts, and calls on his birthday!

It was an awesome day and I know he had fun!

Birthday, Part 1 - We're Going to Party Like It's Your Birthday

The day before Jack's birthday, we had a little party with another girl from our ward who's birthday is the day before his. It was our Mother's Group activity and we did Jack's favorite thing - swimming!

Jack had fun climbing in and out of the swimming pool.

He and Addie (the birthday girl) had fun dancing to the tunes...
Don't those cool 1-year-olds have some major moves!

Then we enjoyed cupcakes...

Mmmmm...

It was a great start to the big birthday celebrations!
