Happy Birthday, Dr Seuss

Dr Seuss's birthday is next week, so we celebrated for our preschool field trip this week.

We read The Cat in the Hat, then played Dr Seuss matching.

We made Cat in the Hat snacks using ritz crackers, string cheese, and tomatoes.

We hopped around while reading Hop on Pop

After reading One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish, we practiced addition using goldfish crackers and dice

We also munched away on sandwiches and Rice Krispy treats.

Tonight we also had Green Eggs and Ham for dinner. Jack-I-Am loved it, but we couldn't convice Luke to even try it here or there or anywhere.

I Heart Vases

This week preschool was all about V is for vase.

They painted a bouquet of V's is their V vases.

They were given a paper with different shaped vases. They picked numbers to write on the vases - anything from 1 to 20 - and then put the corresponding number of flower stickers in the vase.

They each got a chalkboard flower pot to decorate.

Then we went outside and planted flower seeds in our pots.

We also learned about the words up and funny. They then spent time writing all their sight words in chalk on the driveway.

Our books this week were My V Sound Box, Good Morning Garden, and Flower Garden by Eve Bunting.

Safari Time

Nana and Pop Pop took us to the Natural Bridge Safari Wildlife Park and it was amazing!

We saw lots of giraffes

You drive around most of the park with your windows open and feed the animals as they come up to your car.

We fed deer and goats

We saw buffalo

And watoosi

The zebras were pretty exciting. They had no shame coming up to your car for the food

And even stuck their faces in demanding to be fed. It was fun until one stuck his big toothy grin in Jack's window. Then the boys were scared.

This ostrich really liked Pop Pop and even followed us to the gate after we drove away.

Afterwards we went to the petting zoo where Luke met his favorite goat. He liked this particular goat and spent extra time feeding and petting it.

Jack liked this mother and her babies.

We had an amazing experience getting up close and personal with lots of exciting animals!

Fun at Nana and a Pop Pop's House

This weekend the boys and I went to visit Nana and Pop Pop at their new house.

We enjoyed piggy back rides

Feeding the fish

And dressing up and playing games like Mickey Mouse Yahtzee, Connect 4, and Trouble.

There was beautiful weather so we put our feet in the pool

Pop Pop has two little shadows. Luke liked playing tag with him and keeps telling me "Pop Pop is spicy!"

Jack and Pop Pop bonded over bikes and rode bikes together a lot and got going fast on the hills. They are both super speedy!

We also enjoyed a visit from Will and Bethany although I don't have pictures to show for it. We are glad they stopped in to see us while we were in town!

Under the Umbrella

Preschool was all about U is for umbrella!

We played a game where they stood under their umbrella if I said a word that started with u. Then they just liked playing with their umbrellas.

We also tried blow painting to make it look like rain was coming down the umbrella.

The blowing didn't really work.

So they finger painted instead.

They also painted raindrops under the umbrellas to go along with the number on the umbrella.

We read The Umbrella by Jan Brett and a silly book called Underwear.

They also had fun building their sight words out of these letters.

And Away He Goes...

No more training wheels around here! Jack has mastered two wheels on his bike!
And boy is he speedy!

I had to help him get started at first, but he spent awhile practicing in the driveway, and now he can get himself going too!

His adorable sidekick can scoot like the wind too!

I Love You Day

We celebrated Valentine's Day with lots of love.

The boys got goody bags with a book, a little movie and some candy.

We also heart attacked their door with things we love about them.

Breakfast was heart shaped waffles with strawberry hearts b

While I was in the shower, my sweet Jack heart attacked my door. I love that kid!

We met up with our preschool buddies and decorated heart sugar cookies b

We also had heart shaped sandwiches for lunch!

Dallin is away but he sent tulips, my favorite flower, and chocolate covered strawberries. I love him!

We has a great day showing some extra love for each other!

*Luke was not really feeling the love today, so he is not pictured. But we did try to celebrate with hlm!
