Oak Alley

Our second plantation stop was the breath taking Oak Alley 

It is surrounded by the most amazing oak trees. 

The path to the front of the house is lined with oak trees amazingly perfectly spaced. No one knows who planted them. 

We enjoyed walking the grounds 

We also explored the slave quarters and learned about the history of the skaves 

We also toured the house and learned about the history of the Roman family who built it. 

It was an awesome experience 

Nottoway Plantation

Grammy came to visit from California and we showed her true Southern hospitality by taking her to some of the old plantation houses. First stop was Nottoway 

It was once owned by the Randolph family, but today is a resort and tourist stop 

It is located on the banks of the Mississippi River 

We toured the grounds 

And then got a tour of the house. It is full of beauty and history. 

Even the kids were interested in what Luke the Tour Guide had to say. 

It was amazing learning about Southern history 

School Girl

Kate loves to play school with her brothers. She packs a lunch box and they pretend to teach get shapes, numbers and letters 

They were at school but she still wanted to play. She insisted on wearing their school uniform, down to the spirit socks and had a good old time. She's ready for school! 

Trick orTreat

This year we went trick or treating in a nice neighborhood near our house. 

Darth Vader was very proud of his costume and that everybody knew who he was 

Superman was so excited and was ahead of us most of the night 

Peppa Pig finally got the hang of this trick or treating business this year and loved it 

We stayed out until dark and got tons of candy 

After we came home, ate donuts, drank apple cider and watched a movie.

Pumpkin Carving

The kids were so excited to carve pumpkins but we forced them to wait until closer to Halloween since it's been so hot. 

Nobody was very willing to touch the guts but they liked designing their Jack o lanterns. Jack had a big funny face, Luke designed a five eyed alien, and Kate made a happy face. 

And this was the best picture I could get of these silly people.  

Fall Fest

Our ward always puts on a great Fall Fest. It's at someone's property with a big bonfire, spook alley, and trunk or treat. 

This year we brought Darth Vader

Superman

And Peppa Pig

It was so hot this year that the kids waited until trick or treating to put on their costumes. They had fun running around with the other kids. Luke and Kate went through the spook alley and were terrified. And Dallin made a delicious venison chili that wasn't eaten long before anyone else's. it was a great night!

Pumpkin Picking

For FHE, we went to pick our pumpkins out. 

These were my favorite pumpkins

Jack was in search of the biggest, roundest pumpkin. 

Luke was pretty easy to please 

And Kate ran like a crazy woman around the pumpkin patch. We spent the whole time chasing her 

There were lots of cute photo spots. 

And fun things to play with 

Afterwards we went for ice cream. It was a perfect evening.
