Jack Rhymes With Jack-o-lantern

We went to pick pumpkins with a fun group of friends from the ward. It was at a church and they also had fun little games for us to play. But Jack was very serious about his pumpkin picking duties and refused to play until he'd found the perfect pumpkins for both himself and Luke. Then it was onto the business of playing.

Afterwards we went to lunch at a friend's house and the kids had a blast playing together.

On our way home Jack was insistent that we carve our pumpkins immediately. I had originally planned to do it Monday for FHE, but knew it be impossible to put him off that long. So I told him he'd have to wait until Daddy got home and that quiet time would make it go faster. He went down for his nap with no problem. The minute he woke up, he wanted to know if Daddy was home yet.

He was thrilled when Daddy got home and we got to work. He kept telling us that Jack rhymes with jack-o-lantern. Kinda, right? Same sound. Jack knew he wanted his pumpkin to have a mad face and Luke's would have a happy face. He was very particular about how Daddy did the face and made him redo a few things. Luke liked trying to scoop the guts out with a spoon and was strangely fascinated as he tried to touch the insides.

I tried to get a picture with the boys and their finished products. Luke was not having it, as you can tell by his face. I think that picture is hilarious and may go in our Hall of Fame of funny pictures.
