The Open Road

Last Tuesday we hit the road and headed to Utah for my brother's wedding. We left after work and drove to Fort Worth. Then the next day was Fort Worth to Farmington, NM. Then on Thursday we made it to Utah. We only drove two long days on the way back and stayed in Amarillo one night. The kids did really well considering the long 25 hour drive (that's just one way). We watched a lot of movies, played I Spy, played with toys, napped and ate a little. I feel like we watched the same movies over and over even though I brought a lot. Jack liked Cars, Cars 2, Tom and Jerry Wizard of Oz, and Frosty the Snowman. Luke liked Frosty, Elmo, and Mickey. We took some pit stops and walked around Walmart. The boys loved looking at the toys. It was a great trip, but we are glad to be home.

Christmas Games

Jack loves to make up games. And he's created a few in honor of Christmas.
He plays Rudolph and Santa, where he pulls Luke in his sleigh. Rudolph goes really fast and they both laugh hysterically.
He also calls our two nativities Christmas games. He does not believe that the angel goes on top and reprimands me when he discovers I've put it back there. He runs a tight ship and knows the true christmas story.

A Bad Case of the Blechs

I haven't blogged much lately. Our family has been cursed with another bad case of the blechs. For 10 days. It included coughing, runny noses, fevers, vomiting, diarrhea, and sleepless nights. It hit Daddy, Jack, and Luke. Mommy got to be the nurse. Everyone is on the mend now. And let's just pray it stays away for a good long while

Dear Santa

Yesterday Jack wrote a letter to Santa. He told him he was excited for Christmas and that he'd been a good boy. He asked for a scooter and a Toy Story boat. Then he painted a picture for Santa. We put it in the mailbox and the mailman promptly delivered it to the North Pole.

This morning the mailman brought a letter from Santa. He told Jack that he was excited for Christmas too and that he heard Jack had been a good boy. He reminded him of a few things to keep working on and that he was a great boy. Hooray for Santa!

Arts and Crafts

As you may have noticed, Jack loves to make things. He's always begging to do a project. Last week I got some fingerpaint with the intention of doing handprint Christmas trees. But both boys got sick and the thought of tackling the project overwhelmed me despite Jack's pleas to paint. So yesterday I decided to bite the bullet even though noses were running and babies were whining. I think it turned out well and Jack had a blast.

And I also included a picture of Luke lounging around reading. Cuz that's what we do when we're sick.

Busy Body

Luke is a busy little guy. He's always into something. Sometimes the cupboards, sometimes dumping out toy boxes or emptying book shelves. And now he loves the Christmas tree. Tonight he ended up with an ornament stuck to his shirt as he busied around the house. And getting a picture can be tough - he is a blur of activity!

Shatter Proof

When Jack was a baby, we invested in shatter proof Christmas ornaments. It has paid dividends since certain people on our house enjoy taking the ornaments off the tree and throwing them. And we even had a visit from the Grinch, who stole the ornaments off the tree and stashed them in his bedroom. Ornaments are our favorite toy these days.
