Once There Was A Snowman

Last week I had planned to do S is for SNOW at preschool. But then it actually snowed, so we had to cancel preschool. This week we caught up!

We read all the books in the Snowmen series by Carolyn Buehner, Sam the Snowman and The Snowy Day. On top of our regular workbook activities, we did some fun snow activities.

We made S out of cotton ball snowballs.

We put numbered snowballs in order.

We matched capital letter snowman bodies with their lowercase letter heads.

And we played a jumping game with our sight words.

We has fun pretending like it was cold again!

No Training Wheels!

Jack has had big plans to take the training wheels off his bike when Daddy got him from his trip. So we spent some time on Dallin's birthday at the park developing his two wheeler skills!

He did awesome! I have video but it don't post from my phone, so you'll have to wait. But trust me, he totally has the balance part down. Our next step - work on the steering! We are proud of our big biker dude!

And don't worry, Luke kept busy on his scooter. He's a cool scooter dude!

Fire Station Fun

Another fun part of Dallin's birthday was our preschool field trip to the fire station!

We were able to sit in the fire truck.

Learn about different tools.

And even try some on!

They showed us their gear!

It was fun going with lots of friends!

We had a blast!

Things Are Looking Pink

We have a had a long January that saw Dallin gone for 3 1/2 weeks for work. We were thrilled when he returned this week, just in time for his birthday. A lot of exciting things happened on his birthday.

First up, we had our anatomy ultrasound and discovered that we are having a baby GIRL!

Jack and Luke were excited. Jack has been predicting a brother, but was a good sport about it. "I've never had a sister before!"  Luke had been saying it was a sister. I honestly didn't know if he even knew what a sister was since he's never had one. But he was right on!

Don't mess with these tough guys. They have a baby sister to protect now!

Snow Day

We had  a snow/ice day! It is so rare here that everything shut down. Schools and bridges were closed for this :

We ventured out to check it out after bundling up!

They liked checking out all the spots with the icy snow.

He even wrote his name on the car.

They were sad that they couldn't build a snowman.

And they attempted snow angels.

Afterwards we had hot chocolate and toast.

And spent a lazy day inside!

Day at the Museum

The poor Caples were sick again so we had to cancel preschool today. Instead of sitting at home (especially with tomorrow being a snow day. What?!?!?), we decided to head to the Children's Museum.

They shopped

Fished

Paddled

Built

Saved the day

Raced

And raced some more

Fought their way through pool noodles

Delivered the news

Relaxed and read in the sweet reading room

Fought their way through a castle maze

And started their own band (Uncle Andrews in training)

Afterwards we went to lunch at Raising Cane's, where they ate lots of bread and chicken. That much fun creates an appetite!

iRobot

R is for Robot!

This week at preschool we read Boy + Bot and even did our first book report.

We worked in a robot packet that had lots of fun activities.

Matching shapes to the shape word

We built our own robots out of various shapes. Each was unique.

We had Bot, the Incredible Disappearing Robot, and Speedy Austin.

During recess they pretended to be robots building a pirate ship.

They put together a robot puzzle.

And finished up playing with our very own robot, Cogsley!
