What Happens in Bosie, Stays in Boise

Spring Break has officially begun, at least for me. This weekend we loaded up the shiny Corolla, buckled Andrew into the backseat, and headed up to Boise to visit Mandy, John, and the girls. This will probably be our last visit to Boise since they are moving to Colorado.

We had a great time playing with the cutest girls around, Savannah and Camden:




Saturday was a gorgeous day - probably the warmest day we've experienced since November. It was in the seventies and sunny. So we picked up some tasty lunch as Costa Vida and headed over to the local elementary school for a picnic. Things got pretty crazy when a game of tag began on the jungle gym.



We also had some fun playing hop scotch and racing on the grass. Unfortunately the fun had to end when a vicious and suicidal wasp stung me. Ouch!



We also had an awesome time playing with their Wii. Who would have thought tennis and bowling could be so fun from the comfort of your living room? Word to the wise -be prepared to lose if you play against Savannah in bowling! She's got mad skills!

Mother of the Bride?????

Tonight I went to the wedding reception of my fellow teacher, Brittney Bigler nee Brown. While the bride looked beautiful and the reception was gorgeous, something very disturbing happened to me. When I got to the reception, the bride was out front and we walked in together. A man asked her if I was her MOTHER!! Do I seriously look like I could be the mother of the bride???




Also, today was a day of weddings. Congratulations to Kellie and Kevin - I wish I could have been there to celebrate in their special day!

Where Are You, Spring?

We keep getting our hopes that spring is here to stay, but it is quite a tease. We have a few days of nice beautiful weather and start thinking that it will stick around. But our hopes have been consistently crushed by the cold and snow. Right now it is warmer, but the weather report says that there is a storm coming with snow in the forecast! When will it really be here? We are so sick of winter!

Our flowers start to come up and bloom, but then keep getting destroyed by that blasted snow!



We were able to till the land for our garden, but haven't been able to actually plant anything yet! Look how ready we are!

Healed!

My car has been healed! We picked her up on Thursday night and she was as good as new! Not only did they fix the damages from my accident, but they also fixed my bumper from a previous fender bender, the scratches from my days teaching at Lankershim, and they got off the last little bit of paint left over from the wedding. I was very impressed with Martin's Body Shop - they did a great job and were very helpful! And I am especially glad to have my little car back home, looking pretty after the hard winter!

Second Graders On The Loose

Today was the most highly anticipated day in the second grade - THE FIELD TRIP!! My class has been anxiously anticipating this day for some weeks and the excitement has been steadily mounting. This week it has reached a fevered pitch as my class could barely keep their mouths shut with the countdown of days.

And what a day it was!! We took the about 230 second graders to the BYU Bean Museum. And no, this is not a museum that displays beans. It is named after Monte L. Bean and is a life science museum. The kids loved seeing the many animals, although when asked later, many said their favorite part was the gift shop. Second graders are so materialistic! We then headed over to Kiwanis Park for our tasty sack lunches, courtesy of the cafeteria. Gourmet dining to the max!

When we finally made it back to school, not only was I completely and utterly exhausted, but the kids were actually lacking in their normal high energy levels! Most of my B-trackers looked like they were ready to fall asleep by the end of the day. But all in all, I would say it was a successful field trip. Yet I am SO glad it is over! Field trips are probably one of the most stressful days of the year for a teacher!

Saturday Adventures

Yesterday we went to Temple Square to view the gardens there so that Dallin could write a review of them. While it was a little chillier due to the wind, it was still a beautiful day and we enjoyed looking at the flowers.
After checking out the flowers and dodging all the Young Women heading to the YW General Broadcast, we headed over to the Church History Museum. Dallin had never been there before, so it was fun to see it with new eyes. My favorite part is the room with displays with all the prophets. When are they going to get one for President Monson?

Our next stop on our adventurous day was the Greek restaurant that we went to on what you could call our "first date." We ate some super tasty gyros (don't be too jealous, Dustin) and reflected back on our days together.

We then decided to take the long way home so that we could see how they are coming along on the Draper Temple. First of all, it is impossible to get to! We took so many wrong turns on that mountain! I don't know how people are going to find their way. Fortunately, we did finally make it up there and checked it out. It's coming along. Then we decided to go over the mountain rather than take the freeway. While taking that route, we decided that we could never live on Traverse Mountain for several reasons.
1. It is freezing up there - there was still a bunch of snow on the ground. We are very ready for spring - why prolong the winter?
2. It is so windy up there! You would get blown away!
3. It is super expensive and you don't get any land!
4. Last, but certainly not least, it is impossible to find your way around. As Dallin said, "We are lost in suburbia mountain hell!"

Well, eventually we did make it home and were exhausted from our adventures out on the town. We are very glad that we got that little taste of spring - when we woke up this morning, there were 3 inches of snow on the ground! I guess winter still isn't over yet!
