Going on a Gator Hunt

In our constant quest to see gators, we found a nature preserve that you can drive through and had our best luck yet. We saw lots of alligators and even had one that was about 6-7 feet long come up to our car. Our little gator hunter was squealing in delight/fear. So now we have a great gator spot to take any visitors to!

Beautify

Our yard has been in need of a little TLC. So when Dallin's parents gave him some yard tools and a card to Home Depot, the beautifying efforts began.

Jack loved our trip to shop. He was obsessed with finding a watering can. He then helped out as we worked around the yard, watering and digging in the dirt. Luke was a great cheering section.

Check out the before and after pics. It'll be a bit before the bushes are bug enough to look perfect, but I think the yard looks awesome!

To Think I Saw It On Mulberry Street

Does anyone else remember that Dr. Seuss book? Well I feel like there have been some strange things afoot on our street this week.

It all started on Monday night. I was getting ready to put the baby to bed when I looked out the window to see a horse, fully saddled, galloping at full speed down our street. I waited, expecting to see someone following, but no one came. So we headed outside to see where the horse had ended up since we live on a dead end. Dallin soon followed the horse. Eventually he, a cop, and some other guys corralled the spooked horse until its very drunk owner came to claim it. Poor horse had been tied to a basketball hoop when it got spooked, pulled the hoop out of the ground, ran across a busy road, and ended up a mile away on our street.

This afternoon we had to take Luke to the doctor because he was in pain. Poor baby must have stomach cramps. When we returned home, our neighbor came to tell us she had just seen a skunk walk down our driveway and go behind the garage. Sure enough, there was a skunk cruising through our backyard. He eventually went into the next yard where another neighbor got rid of him with the hose. We are now praying he stays in the open, uninhabited field where he was last spotted and that we don't have to smell his stench.

Who knows what we'll spot next on our street?

And since I didn't take any pictures, here's a funny picture of Luke!

Mother's Day 2012

So I was lame and totally didn't take any pictures this weekend.
This picture is from our ill fated Easter photo shoot and is not that great, but it's me and the little men that made me a mommy.

I had a wonderful Mother's Day weekend.
First off, I got a little time off.  I was able to get a much needed hair cut and then Nana was kind enough to watch the boys while Dallin and I went out for lunch to Olive Garden.  We haven't gone anywhere alone since our days in Utah when the uncles would watch Jack before Luke was born.  It was a delicious lunch and I ate far too much.

Then on Mother's Day morning, the boys gave me a beautiful case for my Kindle. I absolutely loved it.  At church, they gave all the women a rose, which was very nice.  That afternoon, Dallin cooked us a scrumptious lunch that consisted of chicken marsala, parmesan crusted baby carrots, and Arkansas green beans, along with sparkling cider.  Yeah, I have the best husband.

And that evening we were invited to a tasty crawfish dinner with a wonderful family in our ward!

And to top it all off, we were lucky enough to have Nana there to celebrate with us too!

I am very grateful for my mother and all that she's done for me.
I'm grateful for Lily, for being a great mother to my husband.
And I'm grateful for my sweet boys.  Some days they try my patience, but I love them both so much and am so grateful that the Lord blessed me with these amazing little men.  I love them so much and learn so much from them every day.

Ticket to Ride

There's been a lot of driving around here. Luke now loves to be pushed around in the Cozy Coupe aka The Bye Bye Car. And Jack has even been willing to give him rides on Lightning McQueen. They look so cute together. We've been walking up and down the street with Jack on McQueen and Luke in the car. And when we were at the grocery store, we found a cool cart that they could sit in together and drive Good times!

Also, notice Jack's awesome Lightning McQueen cape? Yeah, Nana made it for him. I know you're jealous. He wears it everywhere, including the library and grocery store today.

Father & Sons

The annual father and sons camp out was supposed to be this weekend. Dallin actually had work off and Jack was really excited.

And of course it rained.

But the boys made the best of it. The got snacks, glow sticks, and a movie and pitched a tent in our living room. Jack had fun watching Cars 2 with his daddy. He loved the snacks so much he made himself sick eating them. And he loved sleeping in sleeping bags with his daddy in the tent all night. Luke visited briefly but decided he'd rather be with mommy and sleep in his crib.

Despite the setbacks, the boys had an excellent father sons camp out.

I Often Go Walking

Since Nana has been here and brought Lightning McQueen with her, we've taken a lot of walks up and down our street. Jack loves to race and always declares, "Yes! I win!" and gives the look in the picture. Luke just likes to check out what's happening and gaze longingly at Lightning McQueen, dreaming of the day that he can ride him.
